There is really nothing you can do to speed up the process, using the microwave or hot water will change the quality. Order pizza tonight and put the steak in the fridge for tomorrow.
Fill your sink with cold water and submerge it in the water. it will take about 20 minutes or so. you can use "semi-warm" water if you want. it will thaw faster. just dont use water any hotter than that. and dont use your microwave. ick.
If it is in a waterproof bag put it in cool water not hot. That is the best option.
if you have a cast iron frying pan place the stake in the frying pan....the metal will absorb cold from the stake and thaw it faster then just putting it on the counter.....if you don't have a cast iron frying pan a any pan will do but cast iron will dissipate the cold faster.....I do it all the time and it does not effect the quality of the stake....
defiantly use cold water and give it 15 to 20 minutes and it will be thawed
Slow thaw with microwave (most have a defrost setting) or use a sink full of tepid water, being sure to seal steak inside a zip lock bag or something else ot prevent water from touching the steak.
Round steak is typically a tougher, although flavorful, piece of meat, so be sure and take that into account once thawed. Pounding it will help tenderize as will cooking it low and slow in a gravy or sauce. you can also use a powdered meat tenderizer (which is actually a natural ingredient) although I don't care for the texture it gives the meat.
Well, if you have a microwave, turn it to defrost and take steak out about 2 mins. early. Or put warm/hot water in a sink, bag meat securely, and put in the water, adding hot water as needed. The latter is probably better to avoid the microwave getting the meat too dry.
A refrigerator is the best but it might take awhile. Running cold water is another option. The microwave would effect the texture of the meat. Whatever you do don't just leave the steak out at room temperature. Bacteria thrives in temps over forty degrees.
Good answer bernman. That works well. If you can, try using a teflon coated skillet. I think it,s a bit quicker. A round steak is tough though no matter. Use a little tenderizer and a mallett. Pounding the steak will thaw it faster and make it more tender.
