Barbecue spare ribs?!

Question:

Barbecue spare ribs?

why is it called spare rib?

Answers:
Spare ribs is the cut of ribs taken from the belly side of the pig as opposed to the back (baby back ribs, etc.) They have a bit more gristle and fat than back ribs so may be considered a less desirable cut of meat but only to a "rib snob". They are wonderful braised!

I don't know but you just made me hungry when I saw that question. Umm maybe cause they are ribs to spare. I been up to long I need to go to bed. I think I am going to have spare ribs for dinner tonight sounds good.
OK I am awake now after many hours of sleep.
I spare rib is a ribs cut from cows or pigs and there is not hardly any meat on it. As to why you have the spare part on the name, is they sparingly leave meat on it. So they can charge a ton of money for a hand full of meat, however they are really good if cooked right.
I cook the in a pressure cooker and then bake then in a oven with BarBQ sauce. Or put them on the grill. Dag I am hungry now.

because if you eat them enough - you add another rib on to yourself?? dunno!!!

I think it has to do with the cut of meat you get.
