yeah... I agree... mayo based cole slaw... nice shoe stringy style cole slaw... but I am fries girl.
I, too, like cole slaw with crab cakes. If I'm feeling ambitious, I'll make some hushpuppies, too. Don't forget wedges of fresh lemon.
Have you ever made tuna cakes? we like them, too. just make them with tuna instead of crab. It seems like I always have canned tuna, but not always crab.
Last time I went to Three Forks they served it with snap peas...so good.
Asian Slaw, make a dressing out of 1/2 cup of rice wine vinegar, a TB of Soy sauce, 3 TB of sesame oil, minced serrano peppers and juice from a lime. Pour over thinly sliced napa cabbage, carrots, red and yellow peppers and daikon.
I like mine with grilled vegetables and a side salad. Crab cakes are usually rich so I like to serve them with lighter sides and then you can have something rich for dessert.
Summer Spaghetti Salad
1 16oz. package thin spaghetti, broken in half
3 medium tomatoes, diced
3 small zucchini, diced
1 large cucumber, seeded and diced
1 medium green pepper, diced
1 medium sweet red pepper, diced
1 8oz. bottle Italian salad dressing
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
1 1/2 teaspoons sesame seeds
1 1/2 teaspoons poppy seeds
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Cook spaghetti according to package directions; drainand rinse in cold water. Place in a large bowl; add tomatoes, zucchini, cucumber and peppers. Combine remaining ingredients; pour over salad and toss to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
