It's not intended for drinking. It's used as an additive when cooking and/or baking. It's probably due to the fact that it's made from varying concentrations of real lemons as well.

Compared to what - rotten lemons left in the drawer too long?

Robinson's lemon barley water is lovely

because lemons are nasty work...lol..

Its too bitter and more importantly has no alcohol content

I think Innocent brand spring water with lemon is amazing.

AVVVVV it on me Pancakes!! what's the prob?

In the professional kitchens I have worked in, the only thing bottled lemon juice is used for is cleaning the flattop. Otherwise, its not that difficult to get a lemon, cut it and squeeze out all of that tangy juice. Even in culinary school the bottled stuff was only used for cleaning.

Its pretty gross since it has been sitting in the bottle for who knows how long and losing all of its acidity...

Possibly all the additives and preservatives placed in it, you don't think such companies tell us all that's put in things, do you?

Essentially, because of the preservatives that are used.

You could, I suppose, invest in a fancy juicer and get your lemons cheap at the market and juice as necessary.

But, I have to say, as a gadget fanatic, that if you are like me it will end up in the cupboard alongside the Breville sandwich toaster!!

because, if they use any real lemon at all, they squeeze it unpeeled (together with the peel) and that's probably why it tastes so bitter. Make your own lemon juice at home, it will taste much better and does not need much time.

NOTHING BEATS FRESH

It all depends on what you are use to using.
