Lipton soup mix is just a packet of seasonings and herbs that you mix with broth to make soup. While lipton may be a brand specific to the states, I am sure you can find a variety of soup seasoning packets in the soup or condiment aisle at your local market.
Bouillon is basically a cube of dehydrated beef stock. You can also purchase chicken or vegetable bouillon if you prefer. You will find bouillon cubes in the soup aisle of your local market.
Good luck!
instead of lipton soup mix or boullion just use a chicken or beef stock.
It is chicken flavoring you add to soups and gravies.
bouillon..is like chicken broth...soup mix..is like a powder soup mix...
Bouillon is generally a powder or cube of flavored salt that will make a broth. Lipton soup mix is a name brand of this with dehydrated onions in it. If you need to substitute these I would suggest that you buy chicken broth or stock and season it to your tasting. You may want to sautee some onions before adding the stock or broth and then add the liquid. The thing about these are that they both contain a lot of salt, so you will probably have to add a considerable amount of salt to make your recipe turn out correctly. Make sure you taste often and season as necessary.
Boullion are beef cubes-in essence dried conensed beef broth in little about 1/2 sq. cubes.
Lipton soup mix-is a packets/envelope of the dry ingredients of that soup-the spices-sorry, you didn't say which one in particular. Try Food Networks site for another recipe too.
Just get a packet of Knorr soup mix or boullion cubes, any proper grocery store will have this... it will do the same trick...both Lipton's and Knorr's are made by Unilever companies and just called different things...It will make the recipe taste the way it is supposed to...
I think Lipton only does tea in Canada and the UK, in the US there is (obviously) Lipton soup as in Lipton Cup-O-Soup and soup mix and boullion cubes...They also do packet foods like pasta and rice side dishes...
Lipton soup mix is a powdered mix added to boiling water to create a soup base. Bouillion cubes are used as a soup stock substitute. Each cube is a condensed and dehydrated mixture of seasoning and stock elements that are dissolved in water to quickly create a stock base.
I would suggest that you just take the extra time to create your stock prior to making your recipe, but if you have no other choice then you can use a "soup packet" in place of the Lipton; same thing just a different name, and you can use the Knorr and Oxo products found in most UK groceries as bouillion(once again... same thing different name).
