Runny omelette?!
Runny omelette?
Every time I try to make an omelette, it is still a little runny/uncooked inside. Whenever I try to cook it long enough for the whole thing to cook, it burns. How do I make it so that the inside and outside cook evenly?

I honestly know nothing about my stove except for that it's as old as dirt and it's gas.

When the outer edge of the omelette has set, using a spatula, gently pull the edge pack and tip the pan so the uncooked egg runs into the open space. Continue working your way around the edge of the omlette until all runny egg has been poured off. You can then fold your omelette and allow it to brown then turn to brown the other side.
lower the heat in the final stages of cooking and then let it stand a few minutes before serving so that the inside will set up.
Try this:
THE PERFECT OMELET
2 eggs
2 tbsp. water
1/8 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper
1 tbsp. butter
FILLING:
Any of the following: Onion, chopped Bacon or ham, chopped Green pepper Picante sauce
In mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, water, salt and pepper. Heat to very hot on nonstick 8 inch or 10 inch skillet with sloping sides; add butter and quickly put in egg mixture. Tilt pan, move cooked egg so uncooked egg can reach hot surface. Sprinkle filling of choice over 1 side of omelet. Slip spatula under omelet and fold over the filling.
I flip mine before I fill it.
You need to scramble the eggs a little bit. About five seconds after you pour the eggs in, scramble the middle around. Then tilt the pan so the rest of the runny egg fills in all the holes.
Also if you use fillings, make sure they're room temperature or already hot.
And after you've plated the omelet, let it sit for thirty seconds to let it set up.
Too Hot too fast
your tell us nothing about your kitchen!!!
Electric, gas, propane, butane, maybe sterno, wood fire!!!
?????
Once you get the tempature down you might try to put a lid on it to keep the heat in,
It will puff up just fine.
i flip it over then i put the ingredients on that side & fold it in half
FLIP IT OVER LIKE PANCAKE THEN ADD FILLING!
While the eggs are still cooking, shake the pan around a little so that the runny parts spread all over, that way the eggs will be evenly cooked without getting burnt.
You could also be making your omlet too thin (adding too much water/milk or not using enough eggs).
