How do you cook pasta without burning it?!

Question:

How do you cook pasta without burning it?

Can you put EVOO(extra virgin olive oil) in the pasta or will that cause the pasta to burn?

Answers:
You can put EVOO in the water before boiling the pasta to keep the pasta from sticking together... Just a tip.

You boil it so if you keep to the time it won't burn. U can add EVOO to the water to keep the suds from the boil from overflowing and to season the pasta.

Not sure how you're cooking it if you're burning it. You are using boiling water, right?

i know they say a watched pot never boils but in your case i would watch the pot anyway and make sure there is enough water in there

Add salt, too... it keeps pasta from clumping. To not burn it, try turning down the heat and cooking it till it's just about done, but still firm enough to be chewy instead of hard or mushy.

just make sure you have plenty of water in the pot

Pasta doesn't burn.... unless all of the water evaporates. It'll over cook and eventually turn to glue if you over cook it.

Some people put a bit of (cooking) oil (of any type) in the boiling water saying that it keeps the pasts from sticking together. You don't have to do this if you use good quality pasta.

If you are talking about boiling the pasta follow theese steps

bring one gallon of water to a boil.

add one teaspoon of salt.

add one teaspoon of oil (EVOO is fine rachel)

add the pasta and cook for 7 minutes take a piece out after 7 min and taste it if you think it needs to cook longer keep goint for a few more minutes. taste again after ten minutes of cooking your pasta (whatever the type should be done.

pasta can't burn since you boil pasta, however take acre to boil it in sufficient salted water, if you add some olive oil, it reduces the foam as it boils, although I prefer to add a little olive oil once the pasta is drained.

I have never heard of 'burning pasta'. Do you mean over-cooking it? Follow the directions on the box...it's pretty much a no brainer. As far as the EVOO, if you do add it, then when you 'sauce' your pasta, it wont adhere as well to the pasta. That's another reason why you sholdn't rinse it either...it washes off all the good starches. Just add a little salt to the boiling water before you add the pasta. It should be perfect every time!

I'm either not understanding your question, or you're doing something wrong. If you're talking about "boiling" pasta, then there should be no way the pasta can burn. Are you filling the pot up with water?

If you're talking about the pasta sticking together after you strain it, then, yes, if you put a little olive oil on it, then it will keep it from clumping together. But you don't need to use EVOO, just if you want that flavor.

Finally, if you're talking about anything else, then sorry I couldn't help you.

hi my name is billie i,m female,i,m21 yrs old what i would do which i do this my self is put water in your pan put salt in there so it won,t stick no oil no nothing just salt just a hand full stir it up then let it come to a boil check it make sure it,s not hard if it,s hard put it back in for about 5-10 min that should be it anymore recipes e-mail me billiegotmail@yahoo.com bye if you need recipes i,ll give you a world of recipes bye billie

for about 1 pound of pasta, you need 1 gallon of boiling water. There must be enough room for the pasta to move around, so it won't stick together.

Never put oil in the pasta water, it's a waste of perfectly good oil. Toss the pasta directly in your sauce. If you are making a pasta salad, toss it in your vinaigrette. You can also saute some garlic & parsley in oil and dress your pasta with that.

Do add salt to your pasta water. your pasta water should taste like the sea.

I didn't know it was possible to burn pasta! And I thought I wasn't much of a cook... Thanks for the confidence boost!

As long as you stir the pasta when you put in the boiling water and keep an eye on it you'll be fine. Just remember to have enough water for the quantity of pasta you are making.
Some people add oil so the past does not stick together but in my opinion it's not a good idea because it makes the pasta greasy and the pasta sauce won't stick to the pasta as it should.

and salt or oil to the water then take the noodles off of the burner whenn they are still a little hard and let them soak, then strain them and so on. i hope my info helped!

As long as you have plenty of water in the pot, your pasta won't burn. You'd have to actually let it cook so long that the water would evaporate before it would burn.

You should bring the water to the boil, add about one tsp. salt (AFTER it's already boiling) and put your pasta in to cook. You could add oil, but it doesn't really keep the pasta from sticking together--that's just an old wives' tale.

some people put evo in the water to keep the pasta from sticking, but in order to keep your pasta from burning you have to put enough water in the pot,if youre going to make a pound of pasta, fill the pot almost to the top about one inch from the rim, then put your pasta in and follow the directions on the pasta box or bag..
