How to bake a cake?!

Question:

How to bake a cake?

Ok I know how to bake a cake, but I need some advice on how to bake a cake in MY oven, when I put the batter in the pan (I use a glass baking dish, but I've also used metal ones in the past) the outter edges of the cake bake really fast and the middle of the cake is still batter, and it's like all the batter goes to the middle of the pan even though I (try) to spread it out evenly, this has happened the past few times I've made a cake...help! Oh and i've cook at all different types of temperature nothing helps.....

Sounds like you might need a new oven. Try buying a boxed cake mix, and follow the instructions exactly. If it still turns out that way, I think it's just your oven. If it turns out well, then maybe you need to try some different cake recipes.

the pans Ur using must not be big enough, you should get a wider pan.

You need to have a repair man come in and look at your oven. Sounds like you've done eveything you could, so I think your oven thermostat must be way out of whack and your burner might need adjusting too. I couldn't live without being able to bake.

make sure the mixture is properly mixed together, & check how long you are cooking it for
maybe you could switch to using metal baking trays ( if they don't do the same thing)

We had this problem at my mom's house, turns out it was her oven that had gone bad. Time to get a new one I am afraid to say.

Sounds as though you may need to have the thermostat in your oven changed as it is not giving you a true temperature.

I have this prob. occasionally. I am the baking queen. I suggest baking the cake on the bottom for half the time and then moving it up to the top rack. Cakes will sometimes go to the middle. Just chop the top off to even it out then decorate it. Good luck
