No-Bake Petit Fours?!
No-Bake Petit Fours?
Does anyone know of a good recipe for no-bake petit fours (or similar mini pastries)? I would like a fairly simple recipe that a child could help with, or that an older child could make by herself (with some adult supervision).

They don't have to be petit fours. But they do have to be no-bake.
What about chocolates or cereal treats? Just something in little bite-sized portions that isn't too complicated to make.
Using a microwave is ok, but not an oven or stove.

FYI: cake=bake

The simpliest snacks for kids to make would be dipping things in melted chips (milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, peanut butter, maple, etc.)
Things to dip could be:
Strawberries Pretzels Potato Chips
Orange, Apple, Pear or other fruit slices
Different flavors of Chex cereal
Animal Crackers Nilla Wafers
I would just buy a premade cake and cut it into bite sized pieces. I don't think there is such a thing as a no-bake petit four since they require a cake base.
I have made them with my kids and we have used a angel food cake cut into squares.... the melted chocolate chips or white chocolate chips in the micro and put the cake a pan lined w/ foil and drizzled the chocolate..... Then I let my kids decorate w/ sprinkles and the edible glitters
Here's some recipes I found that sound easy and are kid-friendly!
No-Bake Honey Snacks

1 cup mixed nuts

coconut
Grind raisins and nuts in small batches. Stir in honey.
Roll into 36 balls.

Roll in white or colored coconut.
If all snacks are not eaten, refrigerate the leftovers.

Quick No-Bake Pretzel Bars
1 cup sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup peanut butter
5 cups crisp rice cereal
2 cups pretzel sticks
1 cup plain M&Ms plain chocolate candies
In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the sugar and corn syrup.
Microwave on high for 3 minutes or until sugar is dissolved.
Stir in peanut butter until blended.
Add the cereal, pretzels and M&Ms; stir until coated.
Press into a greased 15x10 inch pan.
Cut into bars.
Try making cut-outs with slices of pound cake...spread a little jam between the layers...then frost with canned icing or melt white or chocolate candy melts in the microwave & pour over cakes...(do this over a rack to save mess & reuse drippings) after coating has cooled some decorate with sprinkles, drizzles of colored melted white chocolate, coconut, or any of the cake decorations you can buy at the grocery.
