How do you get the shell off hard boil egg with out destroying the egg?
Answers:
The trick is to only boil eggs that have sitting in your fridge for at least a week. The fresher the egg, the harder it is to peel. They shouldn't be old and rotten, of course, but 1-2 weeks old eggs come out great when they are hard boiled.
Steaming the eggs instead of boiling them also works really well.
Here is a link on a cooking website devoted to this topic: http://busycooks.about.com/od/howtocook/...
Shock it in cold water after you boil it.
Also, foodnetwork has mentioned only using eggs that are a week to 10 days old, as they have a different pH and are easier to peel.
Let them sit in cold water or ice or 5-10 minutes.
Chill the boiled egg in ice water for a little while before you peel it.
when u boil them put viniger in the water
lightly tap the egg against something hard like a sink, spin it cracking gently all the way around, then peel the shell off. its quite simple
put a couple teaspoons of vinegar in the water when you boil your eggs, believe it or not, this makes them easier to peel without damaging the egg.
when you take the eggs out of the boiling water, immediatly run them under cold, cold water. then roll them on the counter gently cracking the egg all over. flake of a peice of shell or two and then peel like an orange......works like a charm everytime
If the shell peels off with egg still intact, you're overboiling. Remember to boil no longer than 15 minutes and let sit for final 2, then rinse in cold water. I usually peel them under running water.
what I do after boiling the egg is drain the hot water and put cold water in place of it..Let the egg sit in there for 15-20 min and then go back to it. Crack the shell and peel it off from there.
bang the egg to crack it, press down and roll it and then grab the corner of one of the peices and the membrane holds the rest of the shell together it should all come off together.
Hope this makes sense.
Once they are boiled, pour cold water into the pan until the pan and the water are really cold. Then crack the egg shell gently in a few places so the cold water can get in around the shell.
Leave for a few minutes and then you should be able to easily peel off the shell.
Using a pin or needle, poke a small hole on the fat end of the egg before boiling. Not sure how, but it makes the shell come off much easier when it's done.
Peel the egg under running cold water, the water losens the membrane that is between the shell and the egg and helps it come right off.
As soon as they are done boiling hold under running cold
water and the peel comes right off for me.
Making potato salad????
It's a very delicate process. Some say its all about the cold water afterward. You deffinitly HAVE to boil them for just the right time. Also for a ,ong time my mother could NEVER boil eggs without them sticking...turns out , it was the pot she was using. If all else fails try another pot???
Peel it under cold running water
Yes I agree with all the rest in regards to placing the hard boil egg in ice cold water for a few minutes. The contrast between the heat of the cooked egg and icy cold water will cause the shell to somewhat separate inside the shell. After that, I suggest you take a small metal spoon and gently tap the egg several times over until the shell has completely shattered. Then with the spoon, slowly peel of the shell. Most of it should detach itself from the egg all together.

If you take Boos answer and -R's answer and combine them yu have the correct answer. Happy shelling
Easy peasy!!! Tap the egg lightly at the fat end, with a small spoon to crack it. Nine times out of 10, there is an air pocket at the fat end of an egg. Then, using the spoon & starting where u cracked it, start peeling the shell off with the spoon. U may screw up the ocassional egg, but for the most part it does a good job. And yes, the fresher eggs r harder to peel but u just gotta deal with it or try my method with some other's. >>>ZETA
First of all, definitely don't use fresh eggs if at all possible. Then use this method. After boiling the eggs in whatever manner you prefer, pour off the hot water and add cold water to the pan a couple of times to cool the eggs. Drain all the water off and with the eggs still in the pan and the lid on, shake the pan vigorously until all the eggs are pretty well cracked. Starting peeling at one end and they should peel quite easily. I have tried almost every method and this consistently works the best for me.
You roll the boiled egg to crack the shell. Then, pick a small area of shell off the egg and under running water slip a wet teaspoon between the remaining shell and the egg. It comes off in big sheets, leaving the egg whole and smooth. This works for warm or cold eggs. Just re,e,ber to do it under running water.
