Anyone know this recipe?!

Question:

Anyone know this recipe?

Okay, when I was in school, we would have these things called Crispitoes at lunchtime. I miss them so bad! I was wondering if anyone knows this recipe or where the schools order them from. I'm really craving these!

There's a recipe for CHICKEN CRISPITOES on the copykatchat.com site. You could also contact your school district's catering division and see if they will let you have a copy of the recipe your school's cafeteria uses to make them.

There are things like them in the frozen section of WalMart. Called taquitos. If you get the cheap kind, they would probably taste similar since the government probably didn't spend a lot on our mid time meals....

I think it is a corn or flour tortilla with a little stuffing, rolled up, then fried (or baked). You can buy them frozen at grocery stores.

Gordon Food Services have what you are looking for, I'm sure.

i know what your talkin about we have them at my school but i cant find a recipe i know this aint what your lookin but maybe this will help

Taco Bell Crispitos (Copycat)

------------------------------...

1/8 C. Cinnamon
1/2 C. Sugar
10 Flour Tortillas

Oil to fry with

Mix together cinnamon and sugar very well. In a dutch oven, or large skillet heat the oil to 350 degrees. If you do not have a thermometer, you can set it on medium high, but be careful to watch that it doesn't get too hot and begin to smoke. Quarter the tortillas and deep fry 2-4 at a time. Allow them to cook on one side for about 30 seconds or until golden brown, turn over, and repeat. When both sides are brown take out, and place on paper towels to drain. While the tortillas are draining liberally sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar mixture. These are really great with honey.

TAQUITOS (EASY)

1 package corn tortillas (dozen)
2 lbs ground beef (80%)
garlic salt
red pepper
1 large potato, grated
vegetable oil
1 large onion, finely diced

Brown hamburger over low heat.
Stir in diced onion, grated potato, garlic salt and red pepper.

Remove from skillet and wipe clean with a paper towel.

Heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry corn tortillas one at a time until soft.

Roll a spoonful of hamburger mixture in tortilla.

Place rolled taquitos onto cookie sheet side by side. Bake in oven at 350°F for 20 minutes.

Serve with grated cheese, sour cream, salsa, or avocado dip.

Crispitos and Seasoned Fillings
These tightly rolled flour tortillas are stuffed with a variety of delicious fillings. They're oil blanched so they'll be lightly browned and ready for the fryer, oven or microwave. Crispitos are ideal for breakfast, lunch, appetizers, desserts and dinner entrées.
