Is beef liver and onions good?
Answers:
OMG... I LOOOOOVE liver and onions. Reminds me of my dad.
It's full of protein and best served with ketchup.
I've only cooked it once and it almost ruined it for me. I suggest ordering it in a resturant.
YUM... I may have to order that next time I see it on the menu.
Liver is not meat. It is a organ. It is disgusting.
oh yeah!
Actually, yes, very good.
You'll want organic liver, and be sure it is cooked very well done, should be done all the way through. This is one of those dishes that is excellent with ketchup, which I almost never eat. If you like, make your own ketchup, it's really easy, you can cut way back on the salt and it's much much better than storebought. Lots of recipe sites have ketchup recipes, when I want ketchup I always make my own. And it keeps well too.
Liver and onions taste great.Fry the onions in with the liver. Lots of both.So good!!
Yes, very good, especially when the onions are grilled to a crispy carmel brown or even deep fried a little & the liver is a good source of Iron....
eww yuck... no it isn't.
i remember the first time i tried it when i was 6 years old and it was horrible. i hate the way it smell so i dont even know why i ate any.
i remember watching Doug when i was little and seeing an episode where he hated Liver and Onions and so he didnt want to go to Patty's party because she was serving Liver and Onions.. so anyway to make a long episode short, he tried it and said it was delicious... damn that Doug! lying to little kids lol... i miss the show tho.
Beef liver is older and may have the texture of the sole on your shoe because it easily dries out. Calves' liver is very young and needs *very* little cooking time.
Calves' liver and onions are wonderful if not overcooked. Add maybe two slices worth of cooked, chopped up bacon (remove the fat first) and you will enjoy a dish fit for a king!
I hate it. But it's a love/hate thing for most people. Either you love it or you hate it.
If you are going to try it, I would suggest calf liver specifically. And if you are going to cook it yourself, soak it in milk for several hours, then season it and dredge it in flour or bread crumbs before frying it in a pan for a few minutes. It doesn't take long to cook. Most people have problems with liver because they experienced overcooked liver. It becomes very dry and pasty when overcooked.
It's actually very nutritious, and a good lean source of protein and iron.
Good luck!
