I know how to make cheesecake from scratch
Depends on who is making it. If you're not used to making cakes from scratch, you might not want to try it your first time out for this event. You can't go wrong with Betty Crocker cake mix. They always turn out good if you measure it right and don't overbake it.
I say use betty crocker, it's a no-fail recipe.
Well, if my mom was cooking, I'd take the homemade cake. Betty Crocker is good, but she can't touch moms recipe.
scatch by the way start making me one i wil be over in 47.5 seconds to help
Betty Crocker would be no-fail, but the cakes seem so conventional. Plus the bizarre ingredients and preservatives are all kind of scary in my opinion. So I vote for making something from scratch, but if you want something that tastes good quickly, definitely go with the mix.
If you are going to make a cheesecake, scratch is always best.
If you are making a traditional birthday cake, it depends how experienced a baker you are. If you have only made one or two cakes from scratch, better stay with a mix!
If you are a great baker, scratch is always BEST!
Nobody will know if you use Betty Crocker. It will save you a lot of time.
Cake mix is fine, but don't use canned icing. Make homemade icing. There are plenty of recipies at wilton.com
There are many cake mixes now in a whole wide variety of flavors. Cakes from scratch are very tricky. If it were me, I would make cake from a mix, but do a homemade frosting and some decorations.
if you are not used to baking homemade then betty crocker. to make it extra moist put a pan of water on the baking shelf underneath the cakes while they are baking. it also ensures them to be level. i wouldn't use the canned icing. there is a great way to make a delicious chocolate icing:
6 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
1/3 cup hershey's cocoa
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 2/3 cups confectioners sugar
Cream butter in a small mixing bowl. Add cocoa and sugar alternately with milk. Beat to spreading consistency. Stir in vanilla extract. Adjust consistency if necessary with more milk or icing sugar.
also a good filling to use is to combine a jar of marshmellow cream and softened cream cheese and just whip it very sticky but very delicious everyone in my family loves it
Stick with Duncan Hines. It's much better than Betty Crocker. As for homemade cakes, I haven't found one I've liked yet. My son is a baker and one time he made a homemade cake (recipe from a cookbook) and it tasted so bad he threw it out. He even uses mixes where he works.
A homemade cake from scratch - made properly with quality ingredients will ALWAYS taste better than anything from a mix. But I mean using real butter, real vanilla etc instead of margarine or artificial flavoring. However, when I am in a hurry, I will use Duncan Hines Butter Recipe Yellow cake mix - it calls for a stick of butter and I usually add a teaspoon of real vanilla. It is a good substitute in a pinch. Happy cooking!
