Should the gas tank valve on my grill be opened all the way or is this too much?!

Question:

Should the gas tank valve on my grill be opened all the way or is this too much?

I have a grill that I got last year. I seem to go through a tank of gas in about 3 or 4 meals, if I'm lucky. It seems that this is going way too fast. When I had grills in the past tanks seemed to last much longer.

I've been opening the valve on the tank all the way, but I'm not sure if this is correct. I can't seem to find any info saying one way or the other, I've checked the manuals and such as well.

Thanks

Answers:
Open it all the way when you are cooking and close the valve between meals. check your hose and regulator and barbecue for a leak by coating with soapy water and seeing if you have bubbles. It also could be an air bubble in your valve which is just blocking the gas flow making you think you have run out. If you "run out" you should remove and re-attach the valve and see if it starts working again.

Yes all the way.

all the way is fine as long as your regulator (the alien-saucer shaped thing on your valve hose ) is operating properly. any place that fills propane can tell you if it is

If you're using gas that fast you are opening the valve too much.

HOWEVER

Only you know if things are cooking at the same speed as before, so only you can say if you need the valve that far open.

The tank valve is opened all the way. If you are wasting too much gas, maybe the regulator and hose is bad.

There is no need to be opened all the way. Open it just to fire be enough strong. Look at fire in safe distance and when you see strong flame that's enough.
It depends of volume of tank how much meals you can fry. In my country standard thank have 12 liters of gas. It last to me for grill in restaurant about 15 days.
