Canister set for Kitchen, What do you put in them?!

Question:

Canister set for Kitchen, What do you put in them?

Okay I am getting a Canister Set from Target this weekend for my kitchen for it to be more organized. I think Flour goes in the biggest one, and Sugar in the next size, am I right in this? And what is supposed to go in the next 2 canisters??? Thanks!

Answers:
Teabags, coffee.
I don't put anything in mine because they don't seem to keep a good seal. Mine are just 'on display' but best of luck to you.

i always put pasta noodles in mine

I have baking soda in one and salt in the other.
you got the flour and sugar right.I really dont know
I go by what my grandmother and mother put
in theirs so I could be way wrong.

In the olden days when I was young it was coffee and tea bags, in that order, according to size. You can put whatever you want in them, nobody is going to come over and make sure you have your canister ingredients correct :).

Coffee and tea

You are right flour goes into the biggest on ,, sugar in the next size then coffee then tea But if you don't use coffee or tea put whatever you use in them Pasta noodles, cookies crackers etc.........

in order of biggest to smallest:
flour
sugar
cant remember (i dont even use mine)
tea (i have kool-aid in mine)

Flour
Coffee
Tea
Sugar
That was the original purpose for canisters.
However, now you can keep whatever you use on a regular basis in the canisters.
Have fun!

It's your kitchen put what you want in them. What ever is better for you .

Nothing is "supposed" to go in them. You put whatever you use the most.

When I was in my baking mode, flour, sugar and cocoa.

When I was in my coffee mode, coffee beans, vanilla sugar and cocoa.

Now, it's oatmeal, pasta, and coffee.

I use big jars with screw on lids for my flours, tea bags, sugar etc. It keeps them really fresh. I got a couple of jars from K-Mart (Martha Stewart line) and the others are old pickle jars. Works great.

Typically they are labeled Flour, Sugar, Coffee and Tea.

Put whatever is practical in your canister set.

They should be filled with items you are most likely to use on a daily/weekly basis.
There are no Canister Police -- so you can go crazy.

You're right, Flour would go in the largest -- makes it easier to contain the contents of the flour bag, and makes it easier to measure it out.

Other ideas -- Sugar, Rice, Popcorn, Dry Beans, Cookies, Coffee (although I use a more air-tight canister, placed in the Fridge for my coffee -- stays fresher longer)

I also do a bit of baking, with recipes calling for brown sugar -- I use 1 for light brown sugar, and 1 for dark brown sugar.
I also put a small piece of bread in these 2 canisters to keep the brown sugar from hardening up.

Good Luck !
