Side dishes for a picnic. Maybe cold pasta?!

Question:

Side dishes for a picnic. Maybe cold pasta?

I said I was going to bring a side dish to my soccer teams picnic. Salads, and macaroni and potatoe salads are already covered. I was thinking about bringing a cold pasta. Anyone have any recipies? My mom said Costo has some ready made ones but I'm not sure. Any suggestions?? The picnic is tomorrow. Thanks!

Answers:
Salads need things to go with them so do something totally different that will go with them like something crunchy.

Mouse Traps.
Toast 6 slices of bread
Sprinkle with grated tasty cheese and cut into fingers.
Bake in a slow oven for 30-45 minutes until crunchy.
Store in an airtight container when cooled.
Vegemite under the cheese tastes nice and sweet.
Bacon sprinkles could also be added.

Peanut butter crackers its cheesy but i like them

I know you said salads are covered, but is anyone bringing a fruit salad? It's great for summer!

Just cut up lots of different kinds of fresh fruit: kiwis, strawberries, melon, mango, peaches... whatever you like.
Add some finely-chopped fresh mint.
Drizzle with honey.

Yummy!!!!!!

This has been a family favorite for years. I hope you enjoy this one too.

Oooh I love pasta salads and everytime I make it it seems to be a hit. Here's a very simple, but delicious recipe.

Ingredients:

1 Package of Rainbow Vegetable noodles
1 Cucumber
3 Tomatoes
1 can of sliced black olives
1 can of sliced green olives(if you like)
1 medium bottle of zesty italian dressing(I personally like Ken's Zesty Italian)

Boil the pasta until they are nice and tender. Probably about 12 minutes or so. drain and rinse with cold water and drain the water.
Peel and cut up your cucumbers. I like to cut them about one inch slices and then cut the slices in four and cut and dice the tomatoes.

Get a bowl. Add the tomatoes, cucumbers, olives to the pasta and add the whole bottle of dressing to it. Mix it all up and refrigerate for about an hour or longer until it's cold and serve:)

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

1 package of tri-color rotini cooked, drained, and rinsed in cold water
4 slices of bacon cooked till crisp and then crumbled
1/12 cups of ranch dressing(I make mine from the Hidden Valley powder packaged ranch)
1 shredded carrot
1 large tomato diced
4 green onion sliced
1/2 cup frozen peas
1 small can of sliced black olives
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Combine all ingredients except for the bacon and chill for at least an hour but, preferably overnight. Stir in the crumbled bacon just before serving. Absolute hit!

Penny Salad

1/4 Cup Vinegar
3 Tablespoons Oil (Sunflower works well)
1/4 teaspoon Mustard
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
1/4 Cup Tomato Ketchup
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper

Wash and slice carrots diagonnally. Wash and slice Green Pepper into strips. Peel and slice onion into rings. Cook Carrots in water until tender, drain in a sieve and cool. When cooled - put them in a salad bowl with the Pepper and Onion.

Add all the other ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Pour over the veges and refrigerate overnight or for 12 hours.

Something different but always a favorite.

Watergate Salad
1 lg can crushed pineapple
1 box pistachio instant pudding
1 c. mini marshmallows
1/2 c. coconut
1 lg carton Cool whip
Mix pineapple and pudding mix together; then add marshmallows,
coconut and Cool whip. Mix and Chill.

This is my version of ambrosia. My family is not too crazy about fruit cocktail, so mine is simple.
4-5 small cans of mandarin oranges, drain all the cans except one
1 bag of mini marshmellows
1 small container of sourcream
Mix all ingredients and place in bowl, cover and store in refrigerator for at least one hour. The longer the better. Believe it or not this is a sweet tasting dish, i guess its because of the marshmellows.

pastsa salad

how about deviled eggs or a veggie platter with ranch dip. i also like the fruit salad idea. you could also do a platter of deli meats and cheeses with rolls.

cook a bag of spiral pasta-the tri-colored varieties are pretty.
chop up pleum tomatoes, zucchini, summer squash onion or any veggie you like. you can add chopped black olives if you like. add a few handfulls of thinly shredded cheddar cheeese. Then dump a bottle of fat free italian dressing and mix to coat. Very good and easy to change to your likings
