What are in Russian and Western dressings?
Answers:
Russian dressing (known in the 1950's as commie sauce) in United States cooking is a salad dressing composed of a base of mayonnaise or yogurt with ketchup, horseradish, pimentos, and chives and/or other spices added. The condiment was named at a time when the ingredients typically included caviar, a food often thought of as Russian.
It is the principal condiment used on Reuben sandwiches, although Thousand Island dressing is sometimes used as a substitute.
Russian dressing is orange in color.
Western dressing is red in color.
Hope this helps! =)
Russian Dressing Recipe #39811
This has a subtle difference to the Thousand Island dressing that is so popular. Much better on a Corned Beef Sandwich!

Western Dressing Recipe #189191
This is a copycat recipe of the Western brand dressing. It's better than the store brand and has no high fructose corn syrup in it. Note that it makes a quart, so you could cut it in half if needed.
