Why do my hard boiled eggs always have a green tinge on the yolks?
Answers:
Because you cooked them a bit too long.
This is how I cook them.
Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, cool, peel and chop.
like an olive-green tinge?
yep, cooking them too long, you can get a "timer" to put right in the pan while the eggs are cooking. Mine is red, and has 2 lines on it, soft boiled and hard boiled, when the line shows up I know they are done...not too over done and not undercooked either :)
I am pretty sure I got mine right at Wal-mart.
It's overcooked
mine do that when I cook them a bit to long
get an egg timer they turn out a perfect light yellow color.
Your cooking them far too long! put the eggs in cold water to just cover, bring to a boil and turn the heat down till their still just boiling for 5 minutes. Shut off the heat and cover, let stand for 15 minutes. drain them and cover with cold water and peel them right away if you want them warm or ice cold water and let them sit for a few more minutes for chilled eggs.
It has to do with the temperature that you boiled them. Its not a thing to worry about if you can eat them don't worry about them.
I would like to tell you how to boil your eggs. Make sure your eggs are fresh. Put the ones you are going to boil in the pot and cover with water, bring to a rolling boil, cover and turn the heat off and let the sit for 20 - 30 min. Peal and eat.
bon Appetite!!!!!
perfect everytime eggs: salt cool water with eggs in it. Bring water to a rolling boil--turn them off put a lid on them and set them aside for 20 minutes. Beautiful eggs with no green and done everytime. --cool with cold water then store or whatever.
Fresh egg boiled a little long and that is the color,it just gets darker when cooked longer.thanks for 2.
