"Clean Flavors"?!
"Clean Flavors"?
I love the Bravo-TV show Top Chef. I hear the Chefs talking the flavors being very "clean". This is obviously a good thing but not being a chef myself, I don't really know what this means in terms of taste and cooking.

It means that the flavors of your dish aren't all muddled together, either by overcooking or over spicing, or adding too many ingredients. Too many people think that more is better, and with cooking, that is not always the case. You want to taste the true flavor of the item you are making!
i enjoy Top Chef as well.....as a chef myself.....clean flavors to me means that every component of a dish works well together and compliment each other well....as well as proper seasoning...not too much or too little
clean flavors to me are for ex.. if you are using asparagus, then it should taste like asparagus, this also can be enhanced by cooking your products properly. Water soluable veggies loose flavor when cooking in water, i. e. asparagus which tends to work better poached in butter and or olive oil without pre blanching..... Tomatoes should taste like tomatoes. If one has a quality product it does not need to be masked by other flavors and or mediums such as cream...
