Do lobsters really scream when you boil them alive?!

Question:

Do lobsters really scream when you boil them alive?

Answers:
I don't know but I don't really eat lobsters!

there's a shriek or squeal.

Yes they do!

Nope. Its the steam escaping their shells while they boil...same concept as a tea kettle.

Angela is correct.

the was a special on the animal channel that lobsters do no have a sense of pain and the squealing is the shells releasing pressure.... its still a horrible noise!

I used to work as a chef, and they do make a shrieking noise, but it's not a loud scream.
But what I found worse, was how they tried to escape, and we had to put something heavy on the lids, to stop them pushing it off.
I hated if anyone ordered lobsters, there is a lobster dish, that requires cutting the shell in half, whilst the lobster is still alive!!!!!. Which I thought was worse..

No one can hear you scream in space....

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

No they don't. It's their shell & the pressure from the hot temperature. Similar to when you pushes a penny into a block of dry ice in science class, the penny "screams", but we all know that pennies have no feelings (they're not even alive!).

no they dont scream at all. to scream u gotta have sort of vocal stuff and lobsters dont

Yep

I really have no idea. I cant even tell you why I am answering this... In fact I have never even had Lobster. To the person that answered with the Lobsters trying to get out of the pot and having to sometimes cut the shells and them being still alive.... Omg thats just awful... Poor things... I would hate that having to do that to them..... . :(

lobsters don't scream when you cook them. The sound comes from air escaping from their carapace (shells) as they cook

They don't scream....they make sqeaking noises as they cook.

no its the steam escaping.its just a myth

There is a noise, but it's more like a squeak and I have heard it is just the air squeaking out of the shell.

And...to the person who answered this question first (I won't even type the name)...thank God your answer is hidden. You shouldn't even be on here. Shame on you!

Wouldn't you?
