Steaks are so easy to cook, but find out if he likes his rare, medium or slightly well done. Get the nicest Idaho baking potatoes the supermarket has. Does he prefer sour cream or butter? Don't forget the rolls. Get one of those plastic bags of salad greens already washed and mixed up; you can add whatever you want such as a sliced tomato, etc. Get his favorite store bought bottle of dressing and yours too. Buy a dessert from the bakery or serve ice cream in a dish with toppings.
Put candles on the table and ignite.
Do you know how to make a "Game Plan?" How to get everything cooked at the same time? Start the potatoes baking first, cause they will take the longest, etc., etc. Steaks would be last and give them time to "rest." Let the juices go back into the meat.

How about a pot roast?
Easy Pot Roast
pot roast
potatoes-peeled and cut into chunks
baby carrots
canned whole green beans-optional
can of cream of mushroom

place roast in roasting pan, place veggies around roast, mix soups and water and pour over roast and veggies. cook for about 1-2 hours, depending on size of roast. 400 degree oven. serve biscuits to sop up gravy... Can also cook this in a crock pot for 4-6 hours on low

Menu: Baked Petite Sirloin with coarsely ground pepper, olive oil and garlic, Baked Yukon Gold potatoes with sauteed mushrooms and onions, salad with homemade buttermilk dressing (easy), rolls (store bought Hawaiian are good), and strawberries with real home-whipped cream. Red grape juice or homemade lemonade with floating raspberries would be good. We had sparking grape juice. Set the table with cloth napkins and place mats in nice colors.
So you can enjoy the dinner too....do as much before so you are not all hot and sweaty when it's time to ring the dinner bell!
Here is a winner that I think most men would eat!
Broiled meat of your choice like chicken breast, steak, pork chop or fish....
Whatever meat you select....the morning of the meal season the meat on both sides and let it marinate until dinner time when you are ready to broil it.
Have about 4 baked potatoes scrubbed and bake them until done...Remove and cut a slit down each one. Scoop out the flesh and put in a bowl. To the potatoes add. Some of each of these ingredients....cheddar cheese, green onions, salt and pepper. Mix together and add enough milk or sour cream..to make it mixable...then stuff this mixture back into the skins....do this early too...then all you have to do is put in the oven and bake them for about 40 minutes before baking shake paprika on the tops...
Make a dish of marinated veggies...to place on top of mixed greens...tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and green peppers...wash, cut and slice the veggies place in bowl and pour your favorite Italian dressing over the veggies or mix olive oil and wine vinegar with oregano, sugar salt and pepper and a little fresh garlic....this can be done early...so when you have the potatoes and meat cooking you can assemble the salad...just take the veggies from the refrig. and place on a plate of mixed greens. Like iceburg , red leaf, romaine lettuces washed and torn mixed together...do this early too....
For dessert..all guys love chocolate...right?
Get a package of lady fingers...they are light finger shaped cakes....or pound cake if you can't find them....plus your fav. ice cream...and choc. syrup....get a loaf pan for making breads...and line with plastic wrap....put a layer of cake in the bottom..thin slices then a layer of ice cream...and chocolate syrup..drizzled...and a sprinkling of nuts like walnuts or pecans...then more cake...repeat until you reach the top...with each layer of ice cream, syrup and nuts....when you finish wrap tight and put in freezer...then remove early enough for it to thaw out and slice with a knife that you held under hot water...so it makes it easy to cut....place a slice on the dessert plate top with whipped cream or cool whip with a cherry on top and more syrup....
You can do this the day before or a week before ..since it's going in the freezer...
Pick up a loaf of French or Italian bread..slice it and dip each slice in good extra virgin olive oil....then rub each piece with garlic...you can brown the bread on top of the stove in a grill pan...or in your toaster oven.
Have a dish of black and green olives in bowls...to accompany the other dishes...
Make sure whatever you drink ...if it's cold you have extra ice made...and a variety of choices ...and if you drink coffee set up the ingredients early ....
Make a list what you are going to have and stick to it...do as much ahead of time so you have time to enjoy your sweet bf...and over dinner you will be thinking of him and not passed out under the table...lol....
