What sorts of herbs and spieces do you put on your salads?
I love greens with things like mushrooms, onions, pea pods, tomatoes, croutons, and veggie parmesian cheese, but lately I've been feeling the urge to try new things. I'm not big on meat, and as for salad dressings, I usually use fat free caesar or italian. Do you put spices or herbs on salads?
Answers:
Mrs. Dash original blend or the Table blend.
Fresh chive or cilantro would be good, you only need a little. My husband like things spicey, he puts crushed red pepper flakes on his. I always use fresh course black pepper through a pepper grinder. There is no comparison to fresh black pepper and refined black pepper.
Salt, pepper, and some italian seasoning.
Try to use something other than your fat free ceaser and Italian.
You should try it with oil and vinegar.
I'm a vegan, I effing LOVE my salads!
I usually put romaine lettuce, iceburg if I'm desperate, different types of greens are good! Try some arugula or spinach leaves! tomatoes, cucumbers, olives, onions, peapods ARE wonderful! peppers, (red and green) everything can be put into a salad, which makes it so wonderful.
Watercress, radicchio, endive, spinach and arrugula are wonderful greens for salad. Fresh herbs are wonderful in salads, try fresh basil w/tomato and pine nuts and a little balsamic vinegar or cilantro w/mango and avocado and a squeeze of lime and chili powder. I also like shredded raw zucchini and yellow crookneck squash w/ sweet onion and tarragon vinegar. Raw nuts and seeds are great too. For a yummy, tangy fat free dressing try lemon juice, Bragg's liquid amino acids and hot sauce of choice. There are endless options, just experiment, be creative!
try some finely chopped mint and fresh lemon juice, its very refreshing. I also like balsamic vinegar and olive oil on green salad.
mmm, i as well use veggie parm cheese, I love it (:
As for toppings, if you want a little flavor, grocery stores sell flavored sliced almonds for salads, and there absolutaly deleicious. Maybe you might want to try that?
