Is my chicken still okay to eat?!

Question:

Is my chicken still okay to eat?

I thawed some chicken in a bowl of water in the fridge yesterday. It's actually been about 24 hours since I put it in there. We changed our mind about eating it for dinner last night, so I just left it in the bowl of water in the fridge. Is it still okay to cook and eat, or not? Oh, it's just 3 chicken breasts, not a whole chicken. And they've been submerged in the water the entire time. I think it's okay to eat, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. It's not worth spending anytime in the hospital! Any answers are appreciated. Thanks!

Answers:
"As on any perishable meat, fish or poultry, bacteria can be found on raw or undercooked chicken. They multiply rapidly at temperatures between 40 °F and 140 °F (out of refrigeration and before thorough cooking occurs). Freezing doesn't kill bacteria but they are destroyed by thorough cooking."

"At home, immediately place chicken in a refrigerator that maintains 40 °F, and use within 1 or 2 days, or freeze at 0 °F. If kept frozen continuously, it will be safe indefinitely."

If it is in the refrigerator, it should be fine.

It's still good. As long as it's refridgerated, it's fine.

Yes, it should be fine.

They'll be fine but make sure you cook them thoroughly, today.

yes, if was in the refrigerator its ok, not to worry

It should be fine since it was kept in the fridge the entire time.

Smell it, if there is a smell to the chicken that you don't think is right then throw it in the garbage. If there is no odor to it then cook it and once it's fully cooked, have a same bit of it. If you don't like the taste then it's garbage. But it should be ok since you had it in the fridge since yesterday to defrost.

If we would throw out meat every time we change our mind the grocery bill would be a lot higher than it is .LOL
Your meat was cold the whole time , so go eat it already .Of course 'ya cook it first . Just kidding .
I had never heard of thawing it in water before . Sounds like a bad idea that would effect the fibers of the chicken to be mushy .
Good Luck

yes they should be fine as long as they werent in the danger zone for bacteria which is 41 degrees to 135 too long

yes you can. Try this recipe:

BEEF-BACON WRAP CHICKEN BREAST
4 whole chicken breasts
8 slices of bacon
1 (4 oz.) pkg. dried beef
1 can mushroom soup
1/2 pt. sour cream
Wrap each breast in a slice of bacon. Cover the bottom of a flat greased baking dish, 9"x13" with chipped dried beef. Arrange the chicken breast over the dried beef then mix the mushroom soup and sour cream together and pour over the chicken breasts and dried beef. Bake at 275 degrees for three hours or at 400 degrees for a little over one hour. Serves 8.

yes they are fine because they were in the frig the whole time.
