Know any good Recipes?

I will be moving into my own apartment in a week and I have never cooked a thing in my life but I want to start. Some cheap and easy recipes for dinners would be much appreciated. Im open to a lot of new things, but basic foods would be great too. Thanks!

Recipe for Bajan Baked Macaroni Pie
of Macaroni
You will need
1/2 of a Small Onion (Diced)
1/2 of a Green Pepper (Diced)
1/2 of a Red Pepper (Diced)
Few good squeezes of Ketchup
2 tablespoons Sugar
Handful of Bread crumbs
2 Packs of Cheese (cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese, grated)
Butter, Salt and Pepper & Hot sauce

1. Set the oven at 350 degrees. Butter a 9-by-13-inch baking dish.

2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the macaroni according to package directions or until it is just tender. Drain into a colander.

3. Dice Peppers and Onions and place aside, Grate cheese

3. In pot, combine the macaroni & a tablespoon of Butter
a little evaporated milk. Gradually add the Cheese Leaving One Handful behind for later. Add Peppers & Onion along with 2 squeezes of ketchup,( just enough to give the macaroni some color), 2 Tablespoond of sugar.
Add salt, Pepper and Hot sauce to your desired taste
. Stir well. Transfer to the baking dish.
Sprinkle cheese on the top of the Macaroni and then sprinkle a handful of bread crumbs over the cheese. This will give you Mac Pie a Crust.

4. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown. Serve hot, or at room temperature.

you can season some chicken and throw it on the grill whenever you don't feel like cooking, with a side of vegetables.

This is one is really really simple to do. Get some bagels, shredded cheese, a jar of tomatoe sauce, and a bag of pepperonis. warm up the oven to 350 degress (you can use the microwave too, about 2 minutes) Take the bagel half, smear the sauce,add the cheese and pepperoni, bake for like 5 min. and voila! mini pizzas.

Meat loaf is pretty simple. If you are only cooking for yourself then take 1/2 lb. ground beef, mix with one egg and add some bread crumbs or quick oats and ketchup. Once it's mixed, make it into a loaf shape in a pan. I don't use a loaf pan because there's no where for the grease to go. Just a round cake pan will work. Spread more ketchup on top, if you like. Bake for about a half an hour or until done. I would suggest you check it after about 20 minutes. I've never made one that small so I'm not sure how long it will take. It will depend on how thick you make your loaf.

There's always Hamburger Helper, which is easy to make. Just follow the directions on the box. You'll need 1 lb. ground beef. Spaghetti is easy. You can even buy canned sauce.

We have found a really good way to cook chicken. Get a boneless, skinless chicken breast and sprinkle it with garlic salt. Grill it if you can. If you don't have a grill then cook it under the broiler in the oven. I usually fix a box of chicken flavored rice with it.

Canned vegetables are easy to fix. Just empty the contents of the can into a saucepan and heat. I usually add a little margarine for flavor. I also drain some of the liquid before I put it in the pan.

If you fix frozen vegetables, you add a little water to the vegetables in the pan and heat. They don't come pre-salted so you might want to add some salt & margarine.

Anything that comes in a box will have instructions on it. Look at the instructions while you are at the grocery store in case you need to buy anything extra.

BEEF-BACON WRAP CHICKEN BREAST
4 whole chicken breasts
8 slices of bacon
1 (4 oz.) pkg. dried beef
1 can mushroom soup
1/2 pt. sour cream
Wrap each breast in a slice of bacon. Cover the bottom of a flat greased baking dish, 9"x13" with chipped dried beef. Arrange the chicken breast over the dried beef then mix the mushroom soup and sour cream together and pour over the chicken breasts and dried beef. Bake at 275 degrees for three hours or at 400 degrees for a little over one hour. Serves 8.

BAKED BEANS AND HAMBURGER
1 lb. hamburger
1 c. onions
2 tsp. salt and pepper
2 cans pork and beans
1/2 can tomato soup
1 tsp. vinegar
1 tsp. mustard
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
Brown hamburger and onions. Add other ingredients. Mix, cover, and bake at 325 degrees for 35 minutes.

CHEDDAR CHEESE BURGERS
1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1/4 c. butter, softened
2 tbsp. French's mustard
1 1/2 lb. ground beef
Salt & pepper
6 hamburger rolls, split
Lettuce & sliced tomato
Combine cheese, butter and mustard. Shape beef into 6 patties. Grill over hot coals or broil. Season with salt and pepper. To serve - place hamburgers on rolls, spread generously with cheese mixture. Top with lettuce and tomato. Serve.

Chicken Enchilada Skillet

? 1 tablespoon oil
? 1 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut bite-sized
? 1 14.5 oz. can chicken broth
? 1/4 cup ranch dressing
? 2 tablespoons flour
? 6 flour tortillas, cut into small pieces
? 1 cup shredded four cheese
? 1/2 cup salsa

? Heat oil in large deep skillet on medium-high heat. Add chicken; cook 7 minutes or until cooked through; stirring occasionally.
? Mix broth, dressing and flour until well blended; gradually add to chicken, stirring constantly. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 3 minutes. Add tortillas; stir to combine.
? Sprinkle with cheese; cover. Simmer 3 to 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Top with salsa.

First off, if you've never cooked before, you want to make it as easy as possible on yourself so that you don't get discouraged and think cooking is too hard. It would be a really good idea to buy a Forman Grill. They are easy to use and easy to clean. Also, get a rice cooker that also has a steamer tray. You can use that for your rice and your veggies. Now, here are a couple of ideas:

Cheesy burgers:

Get some ground beef and put it in a bowl. Drop in some chopped garlic, diced white onions, cracked black pepper, a little salt (if you like it...), some garlic powder and some seasoning salt. Make hamburger patties, but here's the secret: Take a little piece (approx 1"x 2") of whatever cheese you like and put it inside of each of your hamburger patties. Don't smash the patties too flat or the cheese will spill out. Eat these with some french fries. Enjoy!

Meat ball dinner

Here's another ground meat recipe (I use ground beef, but you can use ground turkey, pork, etc). Drop the ground beef in a bowl with 1 egg, some minute rice, lots of garlic, onions, and garlic powder, a little bit of marsala cooking wine, and some cracked pepper. Also, if you have some Creole seasoning (I'm Creole so I always have it), you can put a little of that in too, but be careful because it has some kick. Now mix all that up well, and then roll meatballs. Put those on a baking tray and put in the oven @ 350 for approximately 25 min or so. When the meat is brown inside and the rice is cooked you are done. You can make these with asparagus, just cut the white part of the asparagus off (bitter and too hard to eat), and lay on a baking sheet. Brush with a little olive oil and bake on 400 degrees in the oven for approx 10 - 12 mins. They should have a golden brown color to them. Finally, you can make some veggie herb rice in your rice cooker. Just dump in equal parts rice to equal parts chicken broth. If you like your rice a little more moist, add a little bit more chicken broth. Add some cracked black pepper, some tarragon, and a little salt. stir this up a little in the rice cooker and then set to on. Voila! You have a delicious meal that would be great for having your parents over for the first time in your own place. Congrats, by the way.
