Anyone have any tips on how to clean a George Foreman grill?!

Question:

Anyone have any tips on how to clean a George Foreman grill?

Every time I attempt to clean my George Foreman grill after I cook chicken or burgers I can never seem to get it clean enough. Anyone have any tips?

Answers:
You can buy special George Foreman Grill sponges. They seem to do the trick on my mum's grill. Before she discovered them, she was hacking away at it with a sharp knife - not clever.
These sponges cost around £2.99 for three or four and you can get them from Dixons, Currys or anywhere where you can buy the grills.
If you don't want to splash out on these sponges...
heat it up again and then wipe down with a thick piece of kitchen roll to get any excess off, then turn it off and using a weak solution of washing up liquid and water, wipe it down again. Make sure you rinse it properly, otherwise the next burgers you cook will taste of Fairy - yuk!

I just pour a cup of water on it while it is still hot to loosen up the food. Then I use the scraper thingie to get between the grooves. Once it is cool I wipe it softly with a sponge to get the grease off.

Cillit bang?

BANG AND THE DIRT IS GONE

jif or cif or what you want to call it .

well i use cooking oil and kitchen towel i cleans really good believe it or not try it and see for your self it leaves it looking brand new.

you can buy a George foreman cleaner from currys its like a pan scrubber but shaped to fit in the grooves of your grill its perfect i think its a couple of quid for four pads

Easy off oven cleaner. Awesome clean, but will not scratch plastic cover.

I have found that it works best to clean while it is still slightly warm. I just use a damp rag or paper towels (damp with hot water). It might take a little scrubbing, but it all comes off.

I use a hot soapy sponge and it just rubs off easily.

How I clean mine is I get a potscrubber sponge. Place the grill on paper towels, to avoid grease and dirty water from going all over the place, and put a little liquid detergent on the sponge and start scrubbing. Scrub till you think all food is removed. Then with a wet wrung out rag, wipe it clean. If soap remains, wash out rag with clean hot water and wring out and clean again. Then dry with clean paper towels and put away. Now I heard that the George Foreman grill comes with a removable grill that you wash in the dishwasher. That will be my next purchase.

leave it to get really hot and use the fork like tool provided to scrape away the burnt bits then wipe over with kitchen paper have u seen the george foreman with removable plates for easy cleaning

why bother? You've paid up to sixty quid to grill something that any conventional grill will do and they're less hassle to clean as the fat (if you're that worried about it) will go into the grill pan.you won't get the stripey "chargrill" effect but if you're that bothered about it, just use a griddle pan (a damn sight cheaper than a GF) or sear your meat with a red hot skewer (a trick I learnt in catering school) before you put it under the grill.
