What would you serve with beer battered fish?!

Question:

What would you serve with beer battered fish?

Not chips or potatoes of any kind, please.

Answers:
Since you are going to fry the fish, I don't think you need any more fried stuff to go with it. What I would suggest is to make a delicious flavored rice (recipe at the bottom), and a nice leafy green salad with italian dressing, or you can make your own version of a tartar sauce dressing to go with your salad.

Flavored white rice

One cup of rice
Two cups of water (increase the rice and water for more)
One or two garlic cloves
A quarter of an onion
Chicken buillon

1.- Dice the onion and garlic cloves
2.- Heat up a pan and coat the bottom with oil
3.- Add the rice to the oil and fry it until it becomes opaque
4.- Add the garlic and onion and cook until the onion becomes transluscent.
5.- Add the water, let it boil.
6.- Add chicken buillon to taste, stir, cover, and let cook as usual.

This rice has a fantastic flavor and goes great with ANY type of fish. I hope this helps.. enjoy!

1 onion
1 green pepper

1 tsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. celery seed
1 tsp. turmeric

Shred the cabbage and carrots, then chop them up a bit. Chop the green pepper and onion and combine it with the cabbage. Boil together the vinegar, sugar, salt, and spices, only until they are well blended. Pour over the slaw and allow it to set for several hours before serving. Store in refrigerator. This is good served with baked beans or as a hot dog relish.

Hush puppies are a natural. If you deep fried the fish, put them on a cookie sheet that's been covered with some paper to soak up extra oil. Put the fish in the oven set on warm. Now deep fry the hush puppies. (Please make a few extras with diced jalapeno for me.)
