How do you make fried rice?!

Question:

How do you make fried rice?

Do you have to boil it first? I took raw rice and tossed it in the skillet and an hour later it was still hard. I ended up throwing it in the trash.

Answers:
Yes, you have to cook the rice first. When it's done, transfer it to a wok or nonstick pan, add oil, soy sauce and whatever ingredients you prefer in your rice - like cooked carrots, snow peas, cooked meat, etc. Stir until ingredients are incorporated, crack one egg per cup of rice into the mixture and stir continuously until the egg is completely cooked.

You can also buy packages of seasonings with the directions on the back. But, this process can be made with ingredients already on-hand and is pretty easy, also.

i think you can probably find it on wikihow.

Hi!
The rice has to be cooked and cooled for making fried rice.
I had great luck with a seasoning envelope.(like those dry gravy mixes).
The instructions are easy and it came out good.
I added cooked pork and pea pods to mine.
Yummie.

first cook the onions for like five minutes in oil then put the rice with water and spices in the mixture of the onions and oil. don't put a lot of oil. then wait till the water drains and if well cooked don't add water but if its not add water not too much.

FRIED RICE

4 cups boiled rice
3 tablespoons olive or peanut oil
1 tablespoon dry green (or other) onion
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (or 2 cloves fresh)
2 tablespoons dried mushrooms
2 dried whole eggs, rehydrated
1 tablespoon soy sauce
shredded canned ham, pork or chopped shrimp (optional)

Sauté rice in oil for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add green onions and mushrooms and meat, if using. Cook for several minutes. Combine rehydrated eggs with soy sauce and stir into pan. Cook until eggs set.

Yes, it has to be boiled first, and cooled prefereably. I live to add Green Onions, snow peas, shrimp and egg to mine.

the rice should be boiled and for fried rice use long grain rice.

INGREDIENTS:
4 cups cold cooked rice
8 ounces cooked chicken (or substitute cooked turkey, etc.), chopped
2 eggs (more if desired)
1/2 cup green peas
1 medium onion, diced
1 green onion, diced
Seasonings (add according to taste):
Light Soy Sauce
Oyster sauce
Salt
Pepper
Oil for stir-frying, as needed
PREPARATION:
Beat the eggs lightly with chopsticks, add a dash of salt (Add a bit of oyster sauce if desired).

Chop the chicken meat and dice the onion and green onion.
Heat wok and add oil.

When oil is ready, pour 1/2 of the egg mixture into the wok and cook over medium heat, turning over once. Cook the other half the same way. Cut the egg into thin strips, and save for later.

Stir-fry the onion on high heat for a few moments, remove and set aside. Do the same for the green peas.

Add oil, turn down the heat to medium and stir-fry the rice. Add the soy sauce, salt, pepper and oyster sauce. Add the chicken, onion and green peas and combine thoroughly. Serve chicken fried rice with the strips of egg on top and the green onion as a garnish. (Alternately, you can mix the green onion and egg in with the other ingredients).

Best fried rice is made with left over boiled rice, it prevents rice grains from sticking together.

with all these recipes that these lovely people have provided. you can substitute flavors and vegettables. like if you don't care for muschrooms take that out and put some corn. you have alot of freedom with rice. with too much water it'll be soggy rice, and with not enough it'll be really dry. try new stuff and have fun!
