What are some good ideas for "dinner for two"?
My boyfriend & I are really into cooking new dinners lately. Just looking for some good ideas. Neither of us are "picky" eaters.

Pork with Linguine and Blue Cheese Mushroom Sauce
INGREDIENTS
4 ounces linguine pasta
1 tablespoon butter
1 pound pork tenderloin, cut into 1 inch medallions
2 tablespoons butter
1/2 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced
1 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon cornstarch
DIRECTIONS
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
Meanwhile, melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the pork tenderloin, and cook until meat is no longer pink inside. Remove from skillet and keep warm.
Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in the same skillet over medium-high heat; stir in mushrooms and cook until tender. Pour in chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Once the broth is hot, stir the blue cheese and salt until the cheese has melted.

If it 's a sexy dinner for two, I would keep it very simple like a steak and some kind of potato with a lot of finger food that can be eaten oh so suggestively!
Picnics on the floor in front of a fire or even while watching TV are nice too. Keep it simple with some chilled wine or cold beer and take it from there...
How about roasting one or two Cornish game hens? And serve with a curried basmati rice and veg and salad.
Any leftover hen can be made into stock for soup!
Here are a couple of ideas
Chicken Breast in Herb Mustard Cream Sauce
Serves 2.
1 boneless chicken breast, cut in half
1 to 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
1 tablespoon white wine
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon herbed Dijon mustard
Sauté chicken breast halves in a little olive oil until golden brown and cooked throughout. Remove to a warm plate. Pour off any excess oil from the pan. Over high heat, add the wine and balsamic vinegar, scraping the pan and reducing the liquid until thick and syrupy. Add the heavy cream and boil vigorously, continuously scraping the pan with a wooden spoon, until the cream is thick and reduced by about half its original volume.
Remove from heat, stir in the mustard, and spoon over the chicken.
Cozy Lime Chicken
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 broiler-fryer chicken parts
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
3 ounces sliced mushrooms, sautéed in butter
In small bowl, combine lime juice and olive oil. Dip each chicken part in mixture, covering completely. On foil-lined baking pan, arrange chicken in single layer; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Arrange oven rack at least 6 inches from heat and set temperature to broil. Broil about 15 minutes; turn and pour remaining lime-oil mixture over chicken. Broil about 15 minutes more, until fork can be inserted into chicken with ease. Pour mushrooms over chicken and return to oven for about 2 minutes, until mushrooms are hot.
Makes 2 servings.
Tropical Pork Chops
1 firm banana
2 teaspoons vegetable oil, divided use
2 lean pork chops (1/2-inch thick)
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
2 tablespoons raspberry jelly or honey
2 teaspoons prepared mustard
1/2 cup water
Cut banana in half crosswise, then lengthwise into 4 pieces.
Cook bananas in 1 teaspoon hot oil, in nonstick skillet. If necessary, add one-half teaspoon additional oil. Remove browned bananas to a warm plate.
Rub pork chops with garlic. Sprinkle with ginger. Add remaining oil to skillet. Brown chops on both sides. Remove chops to warm platter.
Melt jelly or honey in skillet; add mustard and water. Stir to blend. Return chops to skillet; spoon sauce over them. Cover, simmer 8 to 10 minutes or until cooked thoroughly. Remove chops to dinner plates; top with bananas. Spoon remaining sauce from skillet over pork chops. Serve with green and yellow beans. Garnish with raspberries and thyme, if desired.
Serves two.

classic spaguetti
Try Salmon steaks or fillets. They are quick and easy to prepare and don't need a lot of extras to make them taste good.
Leeks, carrots and potatoes would go well with the salmon.
as noted by others...it depends alot on the mood...but a few things are, in my opinion, important. First, if you don't want alot of cleanup involved either make most of it the day before or make it very simple and sweet and as corny as it may sound...lay it out on the floor on a blanket (assuming no animals around) with candlelight and soft music and a good bootle of wine...remember the accronym K.I.S.S. which means Keep It Simple Stupid (no offense intended) Sometimes these things can be over thougt, that's all.
