Question about indoor grills....?!

Question:

Question about indoor grills....?

I am thinking about buying an indoor grill. Which is better...George Foreman or the kind that you actually place on the stovetop?? And maybe this sounds silly but does the food cooked on them taste like it has been cooked outdoors?

Answers:
I disagree with the people that say the indoor gril doesn't give you any grilled flavor. If you are cooking a steak, for instance, the fat cooking off and making smoke does give it a little of the outdoor flavor.

We have both kind, GF and regular, and I prefer the grill pan for steaks, shrimp, etc and the George Foreman for sandwiches, chicken breasts, and sausages.

NO it doesn't taste like outdoor grilling because theres really no smoke. You could however try adding some liquid smoke. I don't usually though. I have a cast iron one for the stove top and I love it

no, food doesnt taste like it was cooked outdoors.. i wish though!! lol george foreman grills are awesome and they usually take out half the fat.

there are other grills that advertise less but have better ratings than foreman. check out amazon reviews. a pan is fine 1 sid at a time, but nothing beats charcoal taste from an outdoor grill. Get 1 that says EASY TO CLEAN or you won't use it.

the george forman is better because of the non-stick surface. the one that goes on the stove top can be dangerous because of flare-ups. the flare-ups can cause a fire if not properly installed and used.

so looking on the side of safety, the george forman is the way to go

I'd go with a Foreman type grill. (Mine's a Hamilton Beach, but it works the same.) Cleanup is a lot easier than an outdoor grill. What you might miss is the taste of charcoal or gas. Which I don't. The meat tastes cleaner, less charred, and I can actually enjoy the meat and marinade.

those things are such atrocities. I don't understand why people would actually want to waste their money on them. just my opinion, though.

Well i heard that indoor grills will never taste like outdoor grills because the outdoor gril a little flavor of nature in to its food...... but I've never tried the Forman grill or the one that goes on your oven....... so i cant help you there sorry and GOOD LUCK!!!

I would suggest the GF and whilst you will not get the smokey taste as from charcoal, you can experiment with other flavours using herbs and spices.
