I like to bake brownies from scratch. I use a mixer to cream together a cup and a half of butter and three cups of sugar. Then I beat in 5 eggs one at a time. Next I add a tablespoon of vanilla and mix well. Finally I add a teaspoon each of salt and baking powder, a cup of cocoa powder, and 2 cups of flour and mix well. The batter will be thick. Grease a 9 by 13 cake pan and pour batter in. Bake at 350 for 45 to 55 minutes, or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Let cool slightly, slice, and enjoy. Everyone who has ever tried these brownies really likes them. The extra effort is well worth it.
