Does anyone have an awesome recipe for spaghetti sauce???!

Question:

Does anyone have an awesome recipe for spaghetti sauce???

Answers:
Yes, I do!! This is my dad's recipe that he learned in his first paying job, as a cook at the Town and Country Inn in Clayton, NY (upstate, near Alexandria Bay, in the Thousand Islands region....). Thank you, Ali Kazada (owner of the Inn), for many, many, delicious family spaghetti dinners over the last 40 years or so!

Brown 1 lb. ground beef with onion salt, garlic powder, pepper, Italian seasoning, and minced onion (to your taste - I usually use about a half teaspoon of everything except the Italian seasoning, which I use about a tablespoon of, and the onion - I use about a quarter cup).

Once the beef mixture is thoroughly cooked, add one 6 oz. can of tomato paste and three cans of water, one small can of mushroom pieces and stems (do not drain!), and one packet of Schilling mushroom flavored spaghetti sauce mix. Stir until combined, then add another tablespoon or so of Italian seasoning and a quarter cup of chopped parsley, and a half a stick of butter. You can leave out the butter if you are watching the fat/calories, but I'm telling you - butter makes EVERYTHING better. This is the "secret ingredient" that makes it!

Anyway, simmer on low for about 45 minutes to let the flavors really develop, and then serve over your favorite pasta.

Hope this helps - let me know if you try it and like it!

2 teaspoons minced garlic
1 (28-ounce) can crushed tomatoes

Over medium heat, heat oil in a large pot until hot. Add onion and garlic, saute for 3 to 5 minutes until the onions begin to appear translucent. Add the tomatoes, stir to mingle the flavors. Add in the herbs and bay leaves. Sprinkle in sugar, salt and pepper. Lower the heat and continue to simmer for 30 minutes, uncovered. Stir occasionally.

Mike's note: Once it made add what ever you want Italian sausage, ground meat, meat ball whatever or just leave it alone.

I do not, but I make a fusion of "Indian meets Italy" when I make my sauce. I use some of the typical Indian ingrediets, tumeric, chilli powder, onion, garlic and cillantro. I prepare the meat, and my "secret" ingredient is fennel seed. I don't over-spice everything, as less is best; the taste of everything is so subtle that it tastes more Italian than Indian. Of course, the main ingredient in my mix is Tomato paste and a jar of store bought sauce. Semi home made??? Partly!!!

Hope this helps.
