Any way to modify canned tomato soup to add a homemade touch?!

Question:

Any way to modify canned tomato soup to add a homemade touch?

For reference I'm serving it on the side of Ham on Rye sandwichs. Looking for simple additions to canned Tomato soup.

Answers:
Fresh Basil finely chopped

add some left over pasta.

I always use milk and butter in my Tomato soup... Much better... You could use some hot sauce too...

Add shredded cheese.

Some oregano can give it an italian zest and I'd garnish with some mint leaves in the center. For aroma and presentation.

I always stir in a little sour cream and very little butter...top with a little black pepper and grated cheese of your choice. The sour cream gives it a creamy taste. And presentation is key! :)

add cooked cut up tomatoes and some butter and pepper. That will do it.

I always like putting onions and some spicy seasoning. Tomato soup is a good base you can add pretty much anything you want.

I put italian or cajun spices in mine...also with grilled cheese sandwhiches... yum!

I always add mixed veggies and hamburger meat to mine.
Top with cheese and eat with crackers

Put a dollop of sour cream on top, sprinkle with chives.

Sprinkle with some shredded or grated cheese of your choice.

Mince or puree some fresh tomatoes and heat them up in the soup to cook a little.

I fry a lb. of hamburger and boil macaroni and add it to the soup. Makes it a hearty meal and it is delicious!

i allways sprinkle basil on mine after it is cooked then add a small swirl of cream it looks good and tastes even better

Add some basil and cream; now you got cream of tomato and basil soup. Another trick isto take your favorite red sauce and do the same to it, works better than adding to the soup.

Add Cherry Tomatoes to it. or canned mixed vegetables, chopped ham, or sour cream.

I definitely make it with a little bit of butter and use milk instead of water. Add some seasonings you like, such as salt, pepper, cayenne pepper. After that, for each bowl, I add a dollop of sour cream and green onions or some Cheez-its.

Somebody went through and gave everyone a thumbs down. that's not nice. lol

Add chopped onion or chives or Italian seasonings or their component parts chopped fresh. Actually I prefer mine with milk or sliced cheese. I use tomato soup as a base to make spaghetti sauce or barbecue sauce or over a piece of roast.

Basil and/or some finely chopped rosemary

but more importantly, my dad always put a pinch of brown sugar for each serving, it really helps

Milklions of ways to do this the best is to peel a couple tomatoes and dice them into the mix also dont frget tomatoes dont come salted so salt and pepper them . the Inclusion of other herbs and spices helps , a little basil, a little garlic and a touch of extra virgin olive oil is also nice and homey. For a more Substantial soup a litle pre cooked pasta like ditalini or orzo or rotini adds toi the mix and doesnt take long to do.

Stir in a little salsa. Crush some taco chips in it. put a dollop of sour cream on top. Yuummmmmmy!

I don't know if this goes with Ham and Rye sandwiches, but the best recipe I have ever found for tomato soup included adding in cooked elbow noodles OR Orzo and some ground hamburger. Damn now im hungry for that. Try it, its so good.

add some chopped celery and a can of stewed tomatoes

A few favorites of mine:
tomato soup + salsa
tomato soup + shredded cheese (any kind)
tomato soup + croutons
tomato soup + gold fish crackers
tomato soup + crushed saltine crackers
making it w/ milk instead of water is always good, makes it more creamy
Goodluck :-)
