Play dough recipes? Do I have to add the cream of Tartar?!

Question:

Play dough recipes? Do I have to add the cream of Tartar?

My little one has been poorly and just gone back to school. When she gets in I would like to make some play dough. All the recipes I have seen include cream of tartar. I don't have this in the cupboard and have no car today so can't get to anywhere that would sell it. Can I use an alternative or miss it out altogether? Just wanted something different for her to do as a bit of a treat.

Answers:
2 cups plain flour
1 cup salt
2 tablespoons cooking oil
1 cup cold water
Blend them all to what you know it should look like

Hint..put in a couple of drops of antiseptic concentrate(dettol)
....no-one will ever know you had no cream of tartar

I have never made it with cream of tarter, I put plain flour in a pan, with some oil, and salt, le tit heat up, then kneed it, put it int he fridge for ten mins, and wallah!!!!!

Add some food die to add colours

You can make it without the cream of tartar. It changes the consistency a little, but will still work.

You don't need cream of tartar.

Make the play dough with your original recipe just omit the cream of tartar. But i recommend you use kool-aid packets instead of food coloring. Food coloring can really stain your hands whereas kool-aid won't be as messy and the play dough will smell better!!!

Empty the koolaid in a pan of 1 cup of water from the original recipe and boil. Add this to the rest of the recipe.

Try putting in glitter too! Have Fun!!!

Put it in the fridge when you are done playing with it to make it last longer.
