What can I make with these ingredients?!

Question:

What can I make with these ingredients?

I have a can of Dark Red Kidney Beans, a can of Black Beans, 1 1/2 lbs. hamburg, a jar of medium chunky salsa. How far am I from making a good chili? And how do I make chili? Step by Step please - I am extremely cooking illiterate!!!

Answers:
I disagree with most - I don't think you're that far away from something chili-like. If you also have rice you're all set.

Brown the hamburg - mop up the grease with a paper towel. If you have these spices then add a little of each (~1tsp - cumin, chili powder, cocoa powder, garlic) Add beans to the pan - stir around for a minute then add salsa to make the mixture wet enough for you. Serve over some minute rice.

If you're going to the store anyways then grab some of these spices and get a can each of stewed tomatoes, diced tomatoes and tomato juice and add with salsa - then cook until warmed through.

I have found a recipe that seems very simple to a person who does not cook very much. Happy Eating!

Taco Chili with Mix

Taco Chili Mix:
1 cup dried kidney beans
1/2 cup dried pinto beans
1 (1 1/4-ounce) package taco seasoning mix
1 (1-ounce) package buttermilk salad dressing mix
3 tablespoons dried minced onion
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
1 1/2 cups corn or tortilla chips

Taco Chili:
1 packet Taco Chili Mix
4 cups water
1 (11 3/4-ounce) can diced tomatoes and green chiles
1 (16-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 pound ground beef, cooked and drained

For the mix: In a 1-quart wide mouth jar, layer kidney and pinto beans.

In a small bowl, combine taco seasoning mix, dried salad dressing mix, onion, chili powder, and cumin. Wrap seasonings in plastic wrap or cellophane and place in jar.

Put chips in a bag and place in jar. Decorate with ribbon or fabric.

For the chili: Place beans in a large bowl, cover with water and soak 6 to 8 hours, or overnight. Drain and add to a Dutch oven. Add seasoning packet, water, diced tomatoes and green chiles, tomato sauce, and ground beef.

Heat to boiling, cover and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 2 hours, or until beans are tender. Serve with corn or tortilla chips.

You are pretty far away from making good chili. First, put the beans back in the cabinet. Go get a chili kit at the grocery store. Get some lean ground meat or, even better, chop some venizon or round steak by hand. Follow the directions that come with the kit.

1st, you need to cook the ground beef, after wards drain it and put it in a large pot. Then I would add in the kidney beans and black beans (drained). If you don't have a packet of chili mix then use red pepper (and a lot of it). You will also need onions, maybe a small one diced up and I like to put a can of mushrooms in as well. I also like to add V-8 juice to help make in more flavorable (depending how thick or runny you like your chili, put in as much as you like). You'll need a couple cans of diced tomatoes, undrained to add to the pot. After that just heat it up till it's nice and hot then serve. Good luck.

To make chili, brown your ground beef and drain. Add either tomato sauce or tomato juice. Add lots of chili powder, salt & pepper. Add the kidney beans. If you want to add the salsa for flavor, you can try it. It's mainly tomatoes & peppers so it shouldn't hurt it. Heat it to a boil and then simmer for as long as you want. Taste it and add more chili powder if you want. You could also add some ground red pepper if you want it a little hotter.

You will need;

. 3 peppers, 3 onions, mince beef, oil, 1 tin nred kidney beans, tomatoe puree, black pepper, chilli pepper, paprika(optional), 2 tins of chopped tomatoes, corrriander, 2 chicken stock cubes 3 chillis Nandos extra hot sauce(optional) tabasco sauce (optional)

The following recipe is the 1 i got off my boyf n his family, they are spanish.

Put 1 tbs of oil in 2 large pans

Peel then slice the onion into 1cm cubed pieces

Cut round the top of the peppers and pull out the stalk and shake out the seeds

Slice them down and across so you have square shaped pieces

Place the peppers and the onions into the pan with the oil, cook on a low heat

Use a seperate pan that has oil in and put in the mince do not seperate the mince (med. heat.)

Cut both ends of chillis and dispose, chop whats left into 3 chunks

Put chillis and 1/2 tin of toms in a blender, turn on for a couple of mins

Turn meat once it looks grey on the underside

Put the chilli and toms in with the meat and add peps n onions

Add the spices and sauces
only add the sauces if you can handle hot spice.Add chopped corriander.

Drain the kidney beans and then add youMUST drain or they will ruin the taste of the chilli.

At the cubes, crumble them 1st

Leave to cook for approx 15 mins but am sure if you tatse a bit with a spoon you will know if it needs longer or not.

When ready it should be piping hot.

garnish with corriander.

well, you're pretty darn far away from making a good chili but you can make an edible mock chili with the ingredients you have.

Brown the meat in a large pot. Add the salsa, black beans, and kidney beans. Bring to a bubble. Remove from heat and enjoy with some cornbread or rice.

I think you're closer to a burrito than to chili. Brown the hamburger and drain the grease. Drain the black beans and add to the hamburger along with the salsa. Simmer for a few minutes. Put the kidneys back in the pantry. Put the mixture on a tortilla and top with any or all of the folowing: guacamole, sour cream, shredded cheese.

Here's an easy chili recipe that my family loves.
1 pound hamburger
1 small onion, chopped
1 clove garlic , minced
1 can petite diced tomatoes (not the kind with the chillies in it.)
1 can dark kidney beans
2-3 Tbsp chili powder
1/ 4 tsp ground black pepper
a pinch of ground red pepper
a pinch of cumin.
Add 2 Tbsp oil to a skillet. heat over medium heat. Add the onins and the garlic, stirring until tender. Add the hamburger, cook until browned. Drain the grease. Add spices and tomatoes. stir and simmer for 30 minutes or longer. Add the kidney beans. Simmer for 10 minutes. Serve over rice or with tortilla chips.
