Is vegetable oil the same as corn oil?
i want to make brownies and the box says to use vegetable oil but i dont have any so would it work if i use corn oil instead? are corn oil and vegetable oil the same thing? or would they get messed up?? please help & thank you!
Answers:
No it is not. Despite what some less informed individuals think corn oil is not vegetable oil. .
Anything labeled " vegetable oil " is made primarily from soy beans.
The important distinction between vegetable oil and corn oil is that vegetable oil has a neutral flavor and corn oil does not.
If you do a blind taste test w/veg and corn oil you will discover that the corn oil has a very distinctive and sweet taste.
That taste will of course get transferred to the brownies and change their flavor.
The manufacture of the mix doesn't want that to happen so they suggested the neutral flavored oil.

Corn oil will work fine.
Canola oil works too, and sunflower. I wouldn't use olive, peanut, or sesame, the flavor is overwhelming.
corn oil is one type of vegtable oil. there is canola oil, sunflower oil etc.looking to cut back calories then canola is the best.
Corn is a vegetable so, obviously, Corn Oil is a Vegatable Oil.
