Does anyone have a good recipe for tahini (sesame) sauce?!

Question:

Does anyone have a good recipe for tahini (sesame) sauce?

I'm desperate for a good sesame sauce that I can make at home. I use it predominantly as a steak dipping sauce, and can buy it (at exhorbitant prices) at some of the steak restaurants where I live, but would much prefer to make my own.. thanks!

Answers:
I'm not sure that you want tahini, which is a sesame seed paste, or tahini sauce, so here are recipes for both . . .

Tahini can be prepared homemade or purchased at a Middle Eastern grocer in a can. It is called tahini or tahina, depending on the region.
INGREDIENTS:
5 cups sesame seeds
1 1/2 cups olive oil or vegetable oil
PREPARATION:
Preheat oven to 350. Toast sesame seeds for 5-10 minutes, shaking the seeds frequently with a spatula. Do not allow to brown. Cool for 20 minutes.

Pour sesame seeds into food processor and add oil.

Blend for 2 minutes. Check for consistency. The goal is a thick, yet pourable texture. Add more oil and blend until desired consistency.

Yield: 4 cups
Storing Tahini
Tahini should be stored in the refrigerator in a tightly closed container. It will keep for up to 3 months.

Enjoy! :o)

1 cup tahini paste
4 garlic cloves, minced
Salt to taste
juice of two lemons (6 tablespoons)
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
1 tablespoon olive oil, if desired

Combine tahini paste, garlic, lemon juice and salt in blender or food processor. Process until smooth. Gradually blend in water for desired consistency. Mixture should be thick for a dip and thin for a topping. Turn into a small bowl. Stir in parsley. For dips, press finger in center of dip. Fill indentation with olive oil. If sauce is to be used as a topping, leave plain.

are you wanting tahini? tahini is sesame seed paste and is fairly inexpensive at a Middle Eastern grocers. Now, tahini is used with boiled chick peas, fresh garlic, water, lime juice, olive oil and salt - pureed in a food processor to make hummus. Also, another delicious used for tahini is to mix it with dibis (date syrup) and dip either bread or khubus (flat-bread) in it. Yummy.

Don't waste our time for tahini and related subjects.
