Why is it that....?!
Why is it that....?
a sandwich van (which comes to our work) sells its Che& pickle rolls for £1.50, but in the hospital the same company, same sandwich is £2.35
Answers:
Because parking at hospitals is terrible and they know people won't want to leave, eat and come back, you will eat there.
Hospital has more overhead... they have to make it up somewhere!
needs money
Cos at work you could go across the street to get a sandwich, so they have to keep the price competitive, but in a hospital you're a captive market so they can overcharge you and get away with it. Cheeky evil capitalists! Tsk!
I would suspect they have to pay a fee to the hospital for use of the space, and there is no fee in the van.
The hospital shop has a larger workforce to pay
and pays to rent/lease the property.
The sandwich van is probably only1 or 2 people
involved and a few gallons of diesel
The same reason they charge $5.00 for an Asprin, because they can.
I've noticed the prices change depending on the area they are in. If the employees make quite a bit of money, price goes up, if it is a lower income area, say a construction site, price goes down.
