"Simple and sweet, this cobbler will garner raves. Cherries simply go in the bottom of the pan along with some baking powder dough and a sugary cornstarch syrup. Then altogether they bake up sweet, bubbly and delicious. Serve it warm with whipped cream."
INGREDIENTS:
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup milk 1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup boiling water
3 1/2 cups fresh cherries, pitted
3/4 cup white sugar

DIRECTIONS:
1. Mix 3/4 cup sugar, butter or margarine, flour, salt, baking powder, and milk together. Place cherries in the bottom of a 9 inch square pan. Spread dough over cherries.
2. In a small bowl, combine 1 cup sugar and cornstarch. Stir in boiling water. Pour mixture over the dough.
3. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 45 minutes. Serve warm.

I like to use the recipe in the Better Homes and Garden cookbook but in general you would yes place the cherries mixed with your thicking agent on the bottom of the pan and then add the topping. Here is a link to the Food Network website and a recipe for cherry cobbler by Emeril

I've never heard of cobbler with cake mix in it. Perhaps you mean a cherry dump cake?

1 can Cherry Pie Filling
1/2 Box Yellow Cake Mix
1/2 cup Chopped Pecans
1 Stick Margarine

Directions:

Pre-heat oven to 350F degrees. Pour the cherry pie filling into a baking dish. Mix dry the cake mix, pecans, and margarine. Work the ingredients into a crumbly mixture.

Dump the mixture over the cherries, distributing evenly. Bake for 30 minutes or so. If the top doesn't brown lightly, you may wish to turn on the broiler for a minute or two to tint the top crust. Serve warm.

i have the solution go to google and type in how to make cherry cobbler

I suppose you could try chocolate cake but I have never seen that.....you could call it black forest cobbler!

CHERRY COBBLER

1 stick butter, melted
2 (21 oz.) cans cherry filling
1 tbsp. lemon juice
Hint of cinnamon
1 white or yellow pudding cake mix
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter a 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Melt butter in small saucepan. Pour butter into large mixing bowl. Add cake mix to butter, mix until well blended. Fold in nuts. Pour cherries into baking dish. Sprinkle with lemon juice and cinnamon. Pour cake and butter mixture over cherries. Bake for 45 minutes-1 hour.

Put the cherries on the bootom of a greased or buttered pan.....
take your cake mix (anykind) add some oatmeal and cut in butter to make it crumbly then sprinkle on top and bake until top is browned - thats more of a crisp

put cherries on bottom of a greased or buttered pan then make your cake mix with a little less water (a little thicker) then put on top in spoonfuls... bake until brown

put cherries on bottom of a greased or buttered pan then put spoonfuls of bisquick (use biscuit directions but add cinnamon or any herb, spice etc) on top and bake.

if you put a regularly made cake mix on top the cherries will bake into it more like an upside down cake.

cherry cobbler varries

some its just a crumb topping, some its mixed topping with the chocolate an option

try using graham crackers that mixes well

you may want to get a simple one to start with and check it out

in amazing grace that saved me=John 3 repented of my wrongs (not in baking) and let Jesus into my heart to be my friend, amen

and I love cherry anything-pie-just had some a key to that is to bake the bottom crust a bit before you put the cherries in and cover it or lattice it, cobbler etc.

take two cups of Cherry's and 3/4 cup of sugar and a little water and bring that to a boil, and let it kick for 20 Min's on low or until tender, add 3 tablespoon of ice water to 2 teaspoon corn starch whisked together to that and let it thicken and set that aside or wait till the next day even
get a box of jiffy cake mix, plain or lemon or choc, go by directions to the point it says add batter to pans, stop right there , pour cherrys in a casserole dish or bread pan or anythang buttered and pour in the batter to the cherrys, bake on 45 minutes on 375 degrees

Use whatever flavor you like --vanilla or chocolate. Just sprinkle cake mix over cherry filling , put pieces of butter or margarine on time of cake mix and cook. I've attached a like for you. This one is easy. Enjoy!
