Is it ok to baste meat while cooking with the same sauce you marinated it in?!

Question:

Is it ok to baste meat while cooking with the same sauce you marinated it in?

Answers:
It's OK, as long as you let it cook for a few minutes after you baste it to cook off any bacteria from the raw meat. Better to put a little marinade on the side before you soak the meat in it.

Yes, I do it all the time.........

Sure why not.

Yes it is as long as you cook the last basting long enough to kill any bacteria that could be there, just a minute or so on each side.

As long as you cook that portion of the marinade. Don't baste with the marinade just before pulling it off the heat, give it a moment to cook.

Sure. It gives a better taste as the meat are well covered with sauce.

Sure you can

Yes, as long as the sauce is in the oven/cooker alogn w/ the meat, getting hot along w/ it. Dont' forget and use meat marinade (that had raw meat in it) as a sauce after the meat is cooked! Yipes!

No. The marinade had raw meat in it and as you are cooking the meat you don't want to keep introducing any bacteria that has had a chance to multiply in the marinade.

Throw it out.

Yes at first but then you'll want to cook it for 15-20 minutes for the end of cooking. You'll have raw meet germs in it other wise.
