Do lava rocks really add flavor to a propane gas grill?!

Question:

Do lava rocks really add flavor to a propane gas grill?

Answers:
They may add just a hint of flavor from your past drippings. But mainly their sole purpose is to prevent flare ups and to get a more even heat in your grill. IF your looking for flavor, add a pouch or tray, full of wet wood chips. Keep replacing them out every half hour or so or until you stop seeing large amounts of smoke coming off your grill.

In my opinion, no. I used to have a lava rock grill. A few years ago I bought one that does not use them (just a metal plate). The meat has the same great flavor, and I do not have the pesky flare-ups caused by the grease that used to get caught in the lava rock.

Not at all. What adds flavor is not using propane at all. Seasoned wood chips add flavor.

No - the lava rocks is supposed to heat up and you can save gas by turning off the flame before the meat is cooked. The rocks will then complete the job.
