Can you freeze cantaloupe?!

Question:

Can you freeze cantaloupe?

prepped & cubed, to be used later for smoothies?

Answers:
yes you can (live in Indiana) you can peel, slice and or ball it then place in air tight plastic bags or jars.....

This would be fine for smoothies. Don't try thawing and eating, though, as the texture is really mushy.

Yes you can in a simple syrup.

As a child, my favorite snack at my great-grandmother's was frozen cantaloupe. She would let it thaw half way before giving it to us.
It was simply cubed and put in a container and covered with a simple sugar syrup. To make the syrup, bring 2 cups of water to a slow boil and and 1/2 cup sugar and disolve. Pour over fruit after it has had a chance to cool.

You CAN. But that's like asking the question, "Can you tell a baby not to cry?" It's NOT impossible. But the baby probably won't stop crying, and your muskmelon will probably have the consistency of mush after it thaws.

I don't think so. You have to refrigerate it.
