What are good cold lunches besides sandwiches?
I babysit a 6 year old who pretty much eats anything but he doesnt like sandwiches packed for lunch. What are other good cold lunches to pack him?
Answers:
fresh fruit in a cup....you know they have the lunch boxes to go now where the kids can have pizza, hotdogs, or even crackers/meat.
You could pack him a chilled pasta salad, along with fruit, cheese and crackers [maybe salami], and a juice box. =]
pasta salad, tuna salad, chicken salad, quiche, frittata, cheese and crackers.
tuna & crackers
go to kraftfood.com and you will find lots of simple & real easy recipes for kids. try it. you'll love it.
cheese, crackers, fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese. Will he eat anything microwaved? You can find tons of pasta and meat entrees. If he will eat anything cold, how about a good salad with cold chicken ot turkey, cheese, boiled egg, tomato? And whatever dressing he'll eat.
Leftover pizza or mac salad with peas and crumbled bacon
you can pack him a homemade "lunchable" include cheese, crackers, and his favorite lunchmeat. include a juice box and fruit snacks or a mini size candy bar as a treat. applesauce and grapes are good fruits to pack.
You could pack veggie sticks and small container of dip.
Cheese and crackers.
Yogurt and fresh fruit.
Mild pepperoni sticks cut into chunks could go with the crackers and cheese.
Celery chunks stuffed with peanut butter or cheese whiz.
Hard boiled egg.
Fruit, chicken, pasta all that can be ok when cold

try lunch meat rolls, just roll the lunch meat and maybe put in some cheese. try like a cold burrito with chicken, cheese, lettuce, and ranch dressing. salads are good too!
Kids usually like anything they can eat with their hands. Try cubes of meat and cheese, fruit already cut up. They'll usually eat raw veggies such as carrot or celery sticks if you give them a small container of something to dip them in. ranch dressing usually works.
I make a chopped salad and cut into it..left over chicken or meat. Also you can try left over Chinese food. My daughter likes it cold. Don't forget get about veggies and dip. Enjoy.
if u like asian food ...try this ...
chinese noodles- cooked,drained, cooled
thinly chopped carrots,cucumber,ham,
thinly chopped fired egg.
mix it together with some peanut sauce you can find at a chinese supermarket from Lee Kumm Kee. Everyone loves it when i make it ..and it's soo easy and healthy!
Try some cold chicken and some nice fresh salad but include a slice of pineapple in with it.
Ham roll-ups! A piece of ham, a piece of string cheese, and a piece of peeled cucumber sliced lengthwise all rolled up together! Serve with some apple smiles (apple slices with peanut butter and marshmallows) the marshmallows being the teeth of course, and some Cheez-Its!
I also have a kid-friendly (and adult-friendly!) snack mix. Here it is: Cheese crackers (Cheez-its or Goldfish), Mini-pretzels, Dried Cranberries, Peanuts, and Peanut Butter M&M's. Dump it all in a big bowl with a lid and scoop it into ziploc bags!
