Can you microwave a glass bowl?!

Question:

Can you microwave a glass bowl?

Its kind of a stupid question but i've drawn a blank......Thanks.:)

Answers:
Yes, plastic is troublesome if your food has a high oil or sugar content and metal is an absolute no! but glass is good, I think pyrex and corning ware are better, less likely to break, withstands higher temperatures.

Yes, but it will be hot when you take it out.

Absolutely!

yep......but use a oven mitt or sommin to take it out. no question is stupid:)

Yes, you can put a glass bowl in the microwave! (Just take the aluminum foil off first!)

It's a good way to crack glass. To heat a glass bowl safely, put a couple of inches of water in the bottom of it.

It depends on the type of glass it is. Any glass with a metal in it may get hot faster than the food (lead glass). That is why some dishes and bowls and plates get hotter than the food when nuc'ed. Perform a test by putting a small amounf of food in the bowl, and nuc'ing it for 10 seconds, then 20, etc, and feel the bowl to see if it is getting hot.

microwave "save" means the glass product doesn't have any metal in it...

Even though glass is clear, it can still contain metals...

Ron.

Yup---just remove gold fish and all those pretty colored rocks.....ohhhh and that little miniature treasure chest..... ;~)
