rice pilaf
lemon risotto
I agree about the risotto. Mmmmm. Or some other sort of rice. Yes. Make a sauce and serve it over rice.
a angel hair pasta with garlic butter sauce goes nicely,or plain ol rice a roni is good, or maybe a stuffed portabella mushroom, if you also cut up some fruit such as peaches, apricots or necterines or oranges compliment duck well, and you could top this with a nice side salad. or some baked zuccini with parmasan on them is also a nice compliment...hope it helps
Hm. IIRC, duck is kind of fatty, so something relatively light like a rice pilaf would balance it out nicely. Actually, strike that and go for a mushroom risotto.
And something fruit-based for dessert, like a cobbler or crisp. Chocolate or cheesecake would probably be too rich.

for great cooking ideas i go to SAM the cooking guy (goggle) his stuff is really good and at all my dinner parties everyone is always impressed
Well, since your roasted duck will be heavy and greasy, I recommend something very light.
The rice pilaf that was suggested sounds about right. Or you could try mixed julienned vegetables, lightly steamed, with a garlic balsamic viniagrette sauce.
nice salad baked patato /cheese crassent rolls nice wine sounds good to me
I love rice pilaf cooked with anise seeds to give it a little extra flavor.
pesto
Wild rice cooked with herbs, lemon and spinach in it would be nice. Or just herbed rice and a spinach and mandarin orange salad.
Or if you want any easy, no fuss dinner, saving energy all cooked in the oven at the same time, roast chunks of potatoes, pumpkin, and yams would be good.
RED CURRANT SAUCE:
- 1/3 cup red currant jelly
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 grated rind from one large orange
- 1 tablespoon orange liqueur or Port wine
- 1 tablespoon frozen orange juice concentrate
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1/3 teaspoon Kosher salt

Roasted Duck is a bold flavored main course so I would want to accent it with something light and healthy. One of my favorite easy side dishes is to cut up yellow crookneck squash, zuchini, onions and garlic (with a little dill, oilive oil, salt and pepper) mix it all up and roast it on the rack below the duck. Sometimes I'll add red potatoes or green peppers to the mix and roast those in too...
For a nice summer salad on the side toss spinach leaves, fresh strawberries and toasted almond slices (don't forget to toast them, makes it 100 times better). My favorite dressing is a simple oil and vinegar base with sesame or poppy seeds, a touch of sugar. Mix the dressing in just before serving.
Good Luck.

Oh I have this Delicious side dish pictured in my head. It goes so perfect with it and I cant think of the name. Its a Czechoslovakian dish and I want to say it almost looks like soft taco shell but thinner and a whole different taste. Almost like sweet dough. Its pasted in olive oil and folded and I cant think of it. Oh that makes me mad! Maybe oplatzky
