When you make a roast in the crockpot, do you add water to it?!

Question:

When you make a roast in the crockpot, do you add water to it?

if so how much water do you add?

Answers:
I would add some type of liquid. Aneasy fix is to use dry onion soup mix and follow the instrution to make it. Pour over your roast and you have the liquid and the seasoning for it all in one. The roast will be better if you brown it in pan before placing in the crockpot.

I hate crockpots, but if you must you must! cover it halfway with water depending on how long you're leaving it on. If you're leaving the house for several hours, then cover it and cook it on low. Always, always slow & low.

I do. I usually put about 1/2 - 1 inch @ the bottom.

about a 1/2 cup, the roast will do the rest, then you can use the drippings to make home made gravy.

You don't have to. I like to add chicken stock, and not salt the meat. Also, you should brown it on top of the stove before putting it in the pot, this way it will have a nice brown color on it. The meat will make it's own juice.

1/2 "

yes very much so add enough to almost cover it and dont forget to add salt & pepper

I personally put in a canned coke but if you use water use about 1 to 2 cups

not if the roast is frozen

I use less or up to a cup of water (depending on how much wine) along with:
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 packet onion soup mix
depending on your taste, a splash to a cup of red wine (or stock if you don't want any alcohol)
Roasting veggies (carrots, onions, potatoes)
Place roast on top and it forms its own gravy.

Yes, you add a little water. About 1/2 cup. Here's my recipe. Very easy and delicious.

Easy Pot Roast

pot roast
potatoes-peeled and cut into chunks
baby carrots
canned whole green beans-optional
can of cream of mushroom
lipton onion soup envelope
soup can of water
place roast in roasting pan, place veggies around roast, mix soups and water and pour over roast and veggies. cook for about 1-2 hours, depending on size of roast. 400 degree oven. serve biscuits to sop up gravy... Can also cook this in a crock pot for 4-6 hours on low
