What should I serve?!
What should I serve?
I am going to have a bbq very soon, what should I serve for dessert? I am not huge into cooking so nothing to complicated.
Answers:
the best thing to end a BBQ, is a big juicy ice cold watermelon.
I always loove fruit salad at a bbq, so just chop up some fruit, or use assorted canned or pre-cut fruit, throw it in a bowl and chill it. Or you could make Jello, also with fruit, or plain, or mix in some marshmallows when it's soft-set. Have fun~
a beautiful fruit platter easy to make beforehand, and maybe a dozen cupcakes, easy to cook, decorate and leave on a platter to bring out later, makes you look like a star!
Fresh fruits salad. Is sweet, good and nobody can say no to fresh fruits, Oh and the local supermarket have plates already made so you just go and pick one or two depending in how many people you are having. Good Luck.
Something fruity! Like strawberry and jello pretzel salad!
2 c. crushed pretzel sticks
3/4 c. melted butter
3 tbsp. sugar
8 oz. cream cheese
1 c. sugar
8 oz. Cool Whip
1 (6 oz.) pkg. strawberry banana Jello
2 c. boiling water
2 (10 oz.) pkgs. frozen strawberries, partially thawed
Mix first three ingredients and press in bottom of a 9"x13" pan. Bake at 350 degrees (metal pan) or 325 degrees (glass pan) 8 minutes. Let cool completely. Beat 1 cup sugar and cream cheese. Fold in Cool Whip. Spread over pretzels. Mix Jello and water until dissolved. Add strawberries. Stir into Jello, then set aside for 10 minutes. Pour over cheese mixture. Chill.
Scotcharoos
1 Cup of white sugar
1 Cup of Light Corn Syrup (Karo)
1 1/2 Cups of smooth peanut butter
6 Cups of Rice Krispies
1/2 bag of chocolate chips
1/2 bag of butterscotch chips
In a large pan on your stove top bring the first 3 ingredients to a gentle boil, mix well. Remove from heat and stir in the 6 cups of Rice Krispies. Pour this into a 9x13 pan, smooth out the top and let it cool. When it is cool, in a smaller sauce pan on your stove top over low heat melt the chocolate and butterscotch chips together. Pour this over the cooled bars. Set aside and let the top cool and harden.
These are always a smashing success!! Yummo!
Make brownies....there are a lot of good mixes on the market that only require you to add eggs, oil, and water. Very easy to make. Brownies are always a hit.
If you want to jazz them up a little bit, frost them with some cream cheese frosting and add sprinkles, nuts, coconut, or things like that on top of the frosting.
Pound Cake
get the angel food individual cakes
fill w/ vanilla puddin
top w/ berries of your choice
You should make some broken glass jello :]
It`s like a white JELLO-O desert with cool little pieces of colored jello. It`s not even fattening and tastes good on a hot sumer day. It`s really simple to make but it`s kinda time consuming. When I brought it to a potluck, everyone was impressed on how I made it and they all wanted to learn the recipe, I guess it`s a big hit. See for yourself and give it a try.
I don`t have the recipe on me at the moment but all you gotta do is go on google.com and type in broken glass JELL-O. That`s how I got my recipe. Click the first link it gives you :]
Or, there are other sugestions. You could have a make your own cupcakes kinda thing. Where you have already made cupcakes like chocolate and white (don`t put the frosting and sprinkles on) Then, have everyone put all kinds of flavors/colors of frosting on their cupcakes and add what ever sprinkles they want :]
Other ideas:
-Brownies(w/ powdered sugar and whip cream :]
-Cheesecake (strawberry, oreo, raspberry)
-Cookies (chocolate, sugar, peanut butter)
Hope I helped! :]
When my family gets together for BBQs they always want me to make a trifle. It is super simple...Just get some kid of cake(angel food, chocolate, pound...), some pudding( I usually use jello cheesecake pudding), and some fresh fruit( whatever combination goes with the other ingredients. Make the pudding according to the package, cut up the cake into small pieces, then layer it in a bowl...cake, pudding, fruit, repeat. Then I usually put cool whip on top.
Try make your own "ice cream/sundae."
Buy Vanilla Ice cream.
Get some crushed almonds.
Get some caramel syrup.
Whipped cream.
Buy Philippine Mangoes. There are mango balls available whihc are sweet and compliement the ice cream. If not buy fresh ones, refrigerate and slice. If no mangoes, canned peaches can be good substitute.
Lay it out toppings in a table. Guests can make their own sundae.
I made Cream Puffs few days ago using the following recipes from Pillsbury Complete Cookbook. The results are excellent. You should try it. They are very delicious. For variations, top with berry sauces along with vanilla ice cream. I am going to make more for this long weekend.
