Answers:
CoolWhip is whipped cream, but thicker and lighter to the taste than real whipped cream.

Technically you can use it as frosting, however, it doesn't give the cake the same taste as it would have with frosting. You'd have to spread it while it is in the "in-between" state of frozen and thawed. It's thicker at that point, but will eventually take it's original form. At that point, it will start to slide off the cake or seep into the cake making it kind of soggy.

If you definitely want to use cool whip, put food coloring in it and use it as a "dip" for the cake. This will give your dessert a different way to eat cake. There's no wrong way to eat cake!

Enjoy!

Yes, it works well as a very light frosting!

yes it can. coolwhip is well....whip cream and if frozen then almost thouroughly thawed, it can be used. make sure it is not thawed all the way or then it will take all the pizzazz away!

Cool whip is just like whipped cream. And it can be used to frost a cake. It will be more light though. I think it would be really yummy!

Cool Whip is fake whipped cream with different fats than frosting has... Yes, it can be used as frosting, but keep in mind you'll have to keep the cake cooler than one with regular frosting, the Cool Whip will get runny if it gets warm...

Cool whip is exactly that....whipped cream...it has just been frozen for convenience.

It does work very well for icing, but you will have to refrigerate whatever you frost because the dairy in the whipped topping does not hold up well to heat. It will just melt if you leave it out then your cake will be all soggy.

Of course it can be used as frosting. And you use it in fruit salads and fruit dip. What i do is mix any flavor of yogurt that you like with some cool whip, it's awesome as a fruit dip! And it's usually used as whip cream too. :)

YES ITS BETTER THAN CAKE FROSTING

Yes, it's very much like whip cream. As for an icing topping, I would prefer to use as a filling, you can add banana's strawberries, or even pineapple. Cook, or pick up an angel or pound cake,(two) and use the filling in between two pound cakes. Then get a whipped icing, chocolate flavor to cover all around. This simple recipe is really good. Chocolate pound cake with cool whip and banana's, or strawberries. Just mix fruit and cool whip together. Keep in fridge, before serving. Cool whip can melt, if out on the counter too long.
Enjoy:)

yes and it needs to be kept cool

yes, of course it can be used as frosting. it is low fat too, that is a plus. use it lightly though, too much is overdose. it is ur cake, do what ever you want to do to it.

Absotively, Posolutely!

Cool whip is a DELIGHTFUL frosting for a cake. It is light tasting and magnificent, especially in the summertime.

For an even more delectable frosting, use the following recipe. I use sugar free pudding and light cool whip, but you may use the full sugar versions.

1 pkg 3 ? oz sugar free instant vanilla pudding
2 c. skim milk
1 8 oz carton cool whip

Place pudding mix and milk in a bowl and beat until well blended and thickened slightly. Fold in Cool whip.

If you are going to be using it to ice a cake in a pan, I would use it as it is here. For a layer cake, use half the milk and refrigerate until it thickens slightly. Experiment with other flavors of pudding. I LOVE french vanilla or even chocolate!

Ohh, here is another one...
Pineapple Cool Whip Frosting

1 sm. Box instant vanilla pudding mix 1 (13 oz) cool whip
1 sm. Can crushed pineapple,
undrained

Mix pudding mix and pineapple together with spoon. Fold in cool whip until well blended.
Frost cake. THIS IS A GREAT consistency for icing a cake, but I would let it sit in the fridge for half an hour before icing.

Want a great summer recipe...oh lord, I'm on a roll.... but this is SO EASY!

Butterfinger Cake
1 box devil’s food cake mix 1 bottle caramel topping
1 can Condensed milk 1 large tub cool whip
1 Butterfinger bar

Prepare cake according to package directions. Immediately after removing cake from
oven, poke several holes all over the top with a fork. Pour half the can of condensed milk
and half the bottle of caramel topping over the top, spread it over the entire cake. Chill
well. After cake has chilled completely, spread cool whip over the top and sprinkle
crushed Butterfinger bar on top of cool whip.

Okay, I'll hush now. Got excited about this question.... ~laughs~

Yes, coolwhip can be used as a topping for cakes and deserts like jello. It's also the best hair conditioner ,after shampoo. one teaspoon will do the trick ,message for 2 minutes and rinse with warm water.
