Cimichanga/fried burrito question?!

Question:

Cimichanga/fried burrito question?

Is there a difference between a chimichanga and a fried burrito, or are the two interchangeable?

Answers:
chimichangas can have different fillings i think but other than that i would think they are the same thing....though i never have heard of a fried burrito so i think that's why its called a chimichanga =]

I don't know - as much as I like traditional (authentic) mexican food, lots of it, particularly in the lesser places, seem to have little difference.

I think with a chimichanga, the cheese is on the outside, that's the main difference. It all seems to be the same ingredients, just arranged differently.

Chimichanga: a small deep-fried meat and (usually) bean burrito, also containing (or smothered with) chile sauce and cheese; popularized by the Allsup's convenience store chain with a series of humorous commercials in the 1980s with candid footage of people attempting and failing to pronounce the name correctly. Chimichangas, like flautas and taquitos, are a fast-food adaptation of traditional dishes in a form that can be stored frozen and then quickly fried as needed; they are also rigid and easily hand-held, and thus easy to eat by people while walking or driving.
