What do you feed a kid that is allergic to............?!

Question:

What do you feed a kid that is allergic to............?

Do you have any good ideas/recipes for a child that is allergic to Cows Milk, Wheat, Soy and Eggs?

Answers:
That is tough, since it seems everything contains those ingredients. This website I found might actually be helpful if you can get past the don'ts and scroll down to the do's.

No I can't, but your doctor can. He should have given you information to help you. You need a dietitian expert advice to help you. Good luck to you for taking such good care of your child.

There are recipe books out there for vegans and sufferers of celiac disease (not sure if that is the correct spelling, pronounced sil-li-ak)

Go to your local libary or surf online.

There are websites too.

My friend gives her son goats milk. But other than that I don't have any info. Maybe your doctor could suggest some things. Just give them lots of veggies and stay away from obivious wheat foods. Sounds like he has excema? If so, maybe you can google it-surely there are other moms out there who are going through the same thing. Good Luck!

Some yummy meals:

Rice with black beans, avocados, and diced tomatoes.

Nottapasta with homemade tomato sauce (saute onions+garlic, add canned tomatoes that you have briefly put through the food processor, season as you like, cook until desired consistency) and steamed broccoli on the side.

Mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy and green beans on the side.

Salad with homemade vinaigrette (lemon juice or a fruity vinegar, olive oil, sugar, salt, pepper, maybe herbs and/or garlic--a little less acid than oil, the rest to taste). For the salad itself try arugula, spinach, cherry tomatoes, red onions, bell peppers. Have a homemade tomato soup with the salad, recipe here:

That's a challenge! I'd say to start with vegan cookbooks, and stay away from the recipes using soy and wheat. And it sounds like he/she can still have chicken and pork, so you can add that to dishes. There are pastas out there that substitute rice flour or buckwheat flour (buckwheat is not in the wheat family) so your child can still have pasta (with tomato sauce, or just olive oil and seasonings). You can also find "wraps" made of brown rice flour (in health food stores), so your child can still have wrap sandwiches. You thicken sauces with corn starch or potato starch. Health food stores have dry cereals that don't contain wheat, try serving them with rice milk. In the asian section of your supermarket, you can find instant soups made with asian rice noodles. There are also lots of gluten/wheat free crackers -- bread's your real challenge, as it's hard to find bread that is free of wheat, milk AND eggs.
