Grilling brisket?!

Question:

Grilling brisket?

Can I grill beef brisket over charcoal? Details please.

Answers:
sure, but brisket is a tough piece of meat and must be cooked very slowly. and at a low heat setting for several hours to be tender.

Yes you can, but its very tricky. It needs to be at a low, constant temp for a very long time. In the past I have used a seperate grill like a small hibachi to burn charcoal down to embers. When the grill with the meat starts cooling off, shovel the coals from the other grill into it. trying to maintain a constant heat level. It takes a little practice, but it is so worth it to cook a brisket this way. Good luck!!

I suggest that you first cook the brisket in hot water seasoned with salt and pepper until it is tendered. Then marinate it with your favourite BBQ sauce and grill it.

brisket is better slow cooked or smoked, if you grill it, it will probably be tough

here is how you can bbq a brisket on your grill.
at least 2 hours prior to cooking put your favorite rub on it.
arrange your charcoal for the indirect grilling methood. (your charcoal will be on either side with a drip pan in the middle to catch the drippings. i go with 12 coals per side.)
throw your brisket on and mop it with mop sauce once an hour. you will also have to replenish your charcoal every hour. and toss on your favorite wood chips. the best way to do this is to light it in a chimney starter. if you just throw unlit charcoal on your fire you will get an acidic taste. the brisket will be done when the internal temp is 195 degrees. this takes about 6 hours

here is the recipe for the mop sauce.
1 cup apple cider. 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1 sliced onion. 1 tablespoon brown sugar

you can also just put apple cider or apple juice in a spray bottle and use it
